Tania Omotayo Reacts to ₦50,000 Strawberries in Lagos Supermarket

Entrepreneur and fashion designer Tania Omotayo has expressed disbelief after spotting a pack of strawberries priced at ₦50,000 in a Lagos supermarket.

She took to Instagram to share her frustration, questioning the steep price of a basic fruit amid Nigeria’s economic struggles. “Are we not finished like this in this country?” she wrote.

Omotayo’s post quickly struck a chord with Nigerians, prompting discussions about the soaring cost of living and the affordability of everyday essentials. Many social media users echoed her concerns over rising prices of basic goods.

Experts say the high cost of strawberries in Nigeria is due to factors such as importation, transportation, cold storage requirements, and limited local cultivation, all of which make these fruits less accessible to ordinary consumers.
