You’re Disrespectful – Yul Edochie Calls Out Rufai Oseni, Questions His Moral Authority On National TV

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has launched a scathing attack on Arise TV anchor Rufai Oseni, accusing him of arrogance and unprofessional conduct in his approach to journalism. In a video circulating online, Edochie revisited a past controversy involving Oseni, where the broadcaster was reportedly caught driving on a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lane in Lagos. The actor questioned Oseni’s credibility, arguing that someone who allegedly flouted traffic laws should not position himself as morally superior on national television. “Is this not the same Rufai Oseni that was caught driving against traffic? I think he drove on BRT lane… somewhere in Lagos. Rufai Oseni same guy. He drove on BRT lane which is wrong and when officials caught him instead of apologizing and admitting that he was wrong, what was he saying? He was shouting, ‘Do you know who I am? I’m going to call the governor of Lagos State.’” Edochie claimed that the journalist only apologised after a video of the incident surfaced online. “You could not even apologize. If not because somebody had a video… that was the only time when you saw the video that was when you came on national TV to apologize. If there was no video what would have happened?” The actor went on to fault Oseni’s interviewing style, accusing him of embarrassing and disrespecting guests on live television. “The first thing they should have taught you is to respect your guests. If you have a guest and you’re talking in a particular manner and the guest does not like it, first thing you do is to apologize to that guest, make the guest feel comfortable, then you continue with your question. How can you tell a guest that if the guest is not comfortable the guest is free to walk out of the studio and you call yourself a journalist? What nonsense?” He repeatedly described the presenter as disrespectful and lacking the moral authority to speak down on others. “You’re not better than anybody out there… You have no moral justification to talk to anybody on national TV that way because you’re not better than any Nigerian.” Edochie also used the opportunity to defend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insisting that the Nigerian leader deserves respect and time to address the country’s challenges. “Jagaban President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the President of Nigeria… He is our president whether you like it or not. You must respect him. The man just came in, he’s been there for just months, give him time. Rome was not built in a day.” Concluding his remarks, the actor maintained that Oseni’s conduct does not reflect true journalism and urged him to learn to show respect, both to interview guests and to national leaders. The video has since generated widespread reactions across social media platforms. Yul Edochie Explains Why He Doesn’t Share Photos of Children With Estranged Wife

Popular Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has opened up on why he no longer posts pictures of his children with his estranged wife, May Edochie, amid sustained criticism on social media. Yul addressed the issue during an interview with Kel Armstrong Amobi on the KAA Truth podcast, following backlash over his frequent posts about his second wife, Judy Austin, and her children. The actor dismissed claims that he had abandoned his children with May, insisting that he remains in constant contact with them and continues to support them financially. He disclosed that he recently sent money to his second son through his mother’s bank account to ensure proper records. “I’ve heard a lot of things about people saying I abandoned my children. Sometimes I read those things and I laugh. If my children never come to you to complain, it’s funny because I’m in contact with my children,” he said. Yul revealed that his second son recently gained admission into the university and completed his matriculation, noting that they communicated ahead of the ceremony. Although he was unable to attend due to his busy schedule, he congratulated his son and encouraged him. He added that his son later sent him pictures from the matriculation, countering online claims that he was out of touch with his children. “This is the same son they’re saying I’m not in contact with. You can’t set a camera to debunk everything. I chatted with my son yesterday and sent him money today through the mother, so the payment is properly documented,” he explained. Addressing why he avoids posting his children online, Yul clarified that there is an ongoing divorce case and a court order restricting him from sharing anything related to his children on social media for their safety. “No matter what happened, it shouldn’t affect the children. There’s a court order saying that anything that has to do with my children, I shouldn’t post for their own safety,” he said. The actor disclosed that his second son is 17 years old, while the younger child is about eight, stressing that his decision not to post them online should not be mistaken for lack of love. “So it’s not like I don’t love them. They are my blood,” he added.
