Ahead of different international friendly games, the camps of Nigeria’s senior teams (Super Eagles and Super Falcons) have come alive with most invited players already in. As at 18: 55hrs on Monday, 18 of the 23 Super Falcons invited for the friendly matches against Cameroon (31st May at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo and 3rd June at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta) had arrived at the team’s Am2pm Hotel in Ijebu-Ode. At about the same time, on the same day, 22 of the 26 Super Eagles invited for the Unity Cup Invitational Tournament in London had arrived at the team’s Doubletree Hilton Ealing. The Eagles take on the Black Stars of Ghana at the Gtech Community Stadium, Brentford on Wednesday, 28th May and then play a second match at the same venue on Saturday 31st May. The opponent will be determined by their result against the Black Stars, and the result of the 27th May clash between Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago. Unity Cup: Felix Agu Eligible Play for Nigeria

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that Werder Bremen defender Felix Agu is now eligible to play for the Super Eagles. This confirmation follows correspondence from the German Football Federation (DFB), which clarified that Agu has never featured in any official competitive match for Germany at senior or junior levels. According to FIFA’s eligibility rules, players who have not participated in competitive matches for one nation remain eligible to represent another country they qualify for provided proper clearance is obtained. Agu, born in Germany to Nigerian parents, had previously expressed his desire to switch allegiance and play international football for Nigeria. The 25-year-old has featured in two friendly matches for Germany’s U21 side in 2019 but has never played in any competitive fixtures for the national team. The NFF in a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, stated: “Felix Nnaemeka Agu confirmed OK to play for Nigeria’s Super Eagles. “The German FF have written to confirm that the player has never represented them at any official game at the A and Junior level. Played only 2 friendly games for the U21 team in 2019. “Welcome Felix!.” Agu was named in the Super Eagles’ provisional squad for the Unity Cup.

Both national team and the European club side took to Twitter handle now X on Tuesday to celebrate the retired midfielder. “Happy birthday to our former captain and legend Mikel John,” Super Eagles wrote. Premier League side, Bournemouth has expressed interest in Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye. Bournemouth’s Sporting Director Tiago Pinto has previous experience in the Serie A with Roma and has in the past looked towards Italy in search of potential transfers.
