The rumours circulated on social media through a document alleging that the couple’s marriage had “irretrievably broken down,” citing emotional, financial, and professional control as reasons for the supposed separation. However, Vincent, Simi’s manager, described the reports as false and misleading. He pointed out several inconsistencies in the document, including the use of stage names, which he said are not legally recognised in any court of law. “It’s fake and fabricated. First, stage names are not tenable in any court of justice worldwide, as indicated in the document. Even the suit number on the document is backdated to 2024 (SUIT NO HCL/FC/2024/0178),” he explained.

Simi Responds To Backlash Over Old Tweets, Reaffirms Stand Against Sexual Violence

Nigerian singer Simi has responded to online backlash after some of her decade-old tweets resurfaced, sparking debate on social media. The controversy comes amid ongoing discussions about sexual violence and accountability, especially after a viral video involving a TikTok user’s false rape claim drew widespread attention. Simi, who has long spoken out against sexual assault, had used her platform to urge men to hold peers accountable and to reject the normalization of sexual misconduct. Some users unearthed tweets from her X account from over ten years ago and interpreted them as inappropriate. Addressing the resurfaced posts on Sunday, Simi wrote: “I haven’t been on Twitter today – but someone brought a few of my old tweets to my attention and I can’t not address it.” She added context about her age and circumstances at the time: “14 years ago, I was 23, so I was definitely not a child. I’m not here to make excuses because I don’t have anything to make excuses for. What I can’t let anyone do is twist my story to fit false narratives.” Simi explained that she had been helping her mother run a daycare while pursuing her music career, and that the tweets reflected normal interactions with children rather than harmful intent. Reaffirming her stance against sexual violence, she said: “I have always spoken against rape and sexual assault even before you knew I existed. It’s not a costume I’m wearing, it’s who I am… I said stop raping women. I stand by it.” Her clarification has drawn mixed reactions, with supporters defending her and others continuing to question the intent of the old tweets. I haven't been on twitter today – but someone brought a few of my old tweets to my attention and I can't not address it. 14 years ago, I was 23, so I was definitely not a child. Simi Faces Backlash On X Over Fierce Tweets On Rape And False Accusers

Singer Simi has sparked controversy on X after her outspoken comments about rape and false accusations ignited a fierce debate online. The backlash followed a TikToker’s claim of being raped by an unidentified man. Simi took to X to call for severe punishment for perpetrators, tweeting: “I’m sickkk of this. STOP RAPING WOMEN. They need to castrate rapists and burn them.” Some users challenged her stance, asking about false rape accusations. One asked, “Including the false accusérs too? Auntie Simi,” to which she bluntly replied, “Stfu.” Another user pressed further: “Dear Simi, what about false rape accusers?” She responded sharply: “What about them?? Why are you asking me about something I didn’t talk about? Why is your response to ‘stop raping women’ >> ‘what about false accusers?’ WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH WHAT I SAID????” Simi later expanded on her remarks, explaining the personal experiences behind her frustration. She said almost every woman she knows has faced sexual assault, stressing that trying to silence survivors because of rare false accusations is unacceptable. “If you lie, you should face consequences—but that’s not the conversation I’m having. Nor is it one I’m interested in having,” she wrote. She urged men to hold other men accountable and highlighted the daily fears women face: “Women are terrified to go out. Women in their homes are not safe either. Ask your sisters. Ask your female friends and your girlfriends. Ask your wives. We’re not all crazy. STOP RAPING WOMEN!!” She also condemned social tolerance for abuse among men, sharing the precautions she takes for her safety: “I take a fucking pepper spray when I walk outside alone or with my daughter. Do you think I’m scared of other women? If you’re not a rapist and people calling out rapists bother you, you need to sit and have a conversation with yourself. Because why are you triggered if you’re not guilty???” Simi’s candid statements have fueled discussions about sexual assault, the responsibility of men to call out wrongdoing, and the delicate balance between addressing real cases and concerns about false accusations.
