On X (formerly Twitter), the singer wrote: “I’m scared for people this December. Kidnapping has become a full-time business in some parts of Nigeria and it’s only gonna get worse this festive season. People will travel back to their villages from abroad and from many other places in Nigeria. These bastards will strike hard.” Ruger emphasized the vulnerability of Nigerians returning home for the holidays, describing the rise of kidnappings as an organized and growing threat in certain regions. His warning comes in the wake of several high-profile abduction incidents. In August 2025, gunmen kidnapped at least 45 women and children during overnight raids across five villages in northwest Nigeria. Earlier, in March 2024, over 200 students were abducted from a school assembly in Kuriga, Kaduna State.
