Police Recover Three Headless Bodies Found in Ondo River

Photo: By Punch News The Ondo State Police Command has launched an investigation following the discovery of three headless bodies found floating in the river between Ore and Odigbo communities on Sunday. Police believe the bodies were likely dumped there by unidentified individuals from outside the state or carried to the location by the river’s current. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Olayinka Alayande, explained that no missing persons report has been filed and no one has come forward to identify the victims since the incident was reported. According to the PPRO, the bodies were recovered and deposited at the state General Hospital morgue in Ore. Community leaders and stakeholders were contacted to assist in identifying the victims, but so far, no leads have emerged. “The DPO summoned all interest groups and asked anyone with useful information to come forward, but there has been no response,” Alayande said, further suggesting that the crime likely did not occur within Ondo State. The discovery has caused fear and unease in the local communities. A youth leader, identified only as Shileola, described the scene as horrifying. “I rushed to the site after hearing the news, hoping to identify the victims by their clothes or any clue, but there was nothing,” he said. Residents who discovered the bodies initially alerted security agencies, prompting the police response. While no concrete evidence has been found yet, there are growing suspicions that the victims may have been killed for ritual purposes before being dumped in the river. The incident has heightened tension in Ore and Odigbo, as locals await further updates from security agencies. Police investigations are ongoing, with authorities urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.
