Police Condemn Assault on Female Driver, Arrest Suspect

The Lagos State Police Command has condemned the viral video circulating on social media, depicting the assault of one Yetunde Amole by a suspected thug near the Oriental Hotel area in Lagos. The Command in a statement posted on social media frowned at the act in the strongest terms, just as they updated the public on the actions already taken. The statement reads; “The incident occurred on April 7, 2025, at about 1400hrs, when the suspect, identified as Friday Onu, was caught attempting to steal Amole’s car battery. Amole, courageously Lagos State Police Command intervened to prevent the theft, resulting in the suspect assaulting her. “Following a prompt response by officers of Maroko Division, Friday Onu was arrested shortly after the incident and detained at the division. Preparations for his arraignment were underway.”

Portable begs as Police declare him wanted

Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has reacted after he was declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command. Portable was declared wanted by the police for his alleged involvement in the assault on Ogun State government officials carrying out their lawful duties. In a series of posts on his Instagram story, the Zazu crooner denied the allegations against him, claiming the arrest warrant was meant to attack him. “I didn’t kill anybody. If anything happens to me, there will be trouble. They should post the evidence of where I fought them at my bar. They are evil people, and they are lying against me. Just kill me and let everywhere scatter,” he wrote. In another post, Portable begged the Ogun State government to forgive him, claiming he was under spiritual attack. “All this evil thing wey dey happen to me na spiritual attack. God save me. I’m facing a lot of sicknesses all over my body. I’m taking care of myself. Pain in my body. Make Ogun State government forgive me,” he pleaded.

Public Assault: Ogun State Govt. suspends Olorile of Orile-Ifo for six months

In a bid to ensuring dignity of persons and for the protection of sanctity of our revered traditional institution, the Ogun State Government led by Prince Dapo Abiodun, has placed Oba Abdulsemiu Adewale Ogunjobi, the Olorile of Orile-Ifo on six months suspension for his uncivil conduct not befitting the status of an Oba. The decision was reached after the Kabiyesi and his victim were invited by the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Local Govt and Chieftaincy Affairs for interrogation. This became imperative as a result of the reckless utterances and public misconduct of the Kabiyesi as it was evident in the social media and being bandied in the larger public space. After the investigation conducted on the matter, the Kabiyesi has been suspended and stripped of the paraphernalia of the stool of Olorile-Ifo pending the determination of his culpability or otherwise on the allegation. The foregoing decision was reached by the Ministry in conjunction with the Egba Traditional Council in accordance with Section 52(1) of the Obas and Chiefs’ Law of Ogun State 2021. Meanwhile, the Monarch has been charged to court today 4th February, 2025, on three-count charge of conspiracy, assault and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.He was granted bail while the case was adjourned to 06/03/2025. The police will continue to uphold the rule of law and the core values of the noble profession.
