Joke Silva Says Marrying Older Man Lets You “Get Away With A Lot” In Marriage To Olu Jacobs

Veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva has shared insights into the benefits of marrying an older man, reflecting on her long-lasting marriage to iconic actor Olu Jacobs. Speaking on TVC’s Your View, Silva, 64, revisited her romance with Jacobs, which began in 1985 despite a 20-year age difference. She admitted that while Jacobs fell in love with her at first sight, her feelings developed more gradually. “Yes, we met on stage, and when we met on a movie set, everybody knew it was the great Olu Jacobs who was coming, except me. When he came, we got on very well, and it was after we started dating that I discovered his age because he looked so good. For him, it was love at first sight, but for me, it wasn’t. These older men allow you to get away with a lot of things,” she said. Jacobs was 44 when he married the then 24-year-old Silva. Almost 40 years later, the couple remains happily married with two children, making their relationship one of Nollywood’s most admired and enduring love stories.
