Fire Destroys Property Worth Millions in Nnewi Factory, No Casualties Reported
A fire on Wednesday morning destroyed property valued at millions of naira in a factory located in Nnewichi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State. The blaze, which consumed large stocks of tissue paper and baby products, including diapers, reportedly started around 5:30 am. Resident Obinna Okoye said the fire caught the community by surprise, as most people were still asleep when it broke out. He noted that firefighters responded quickly to tackle the flames. “The fire service men are still trying to quench the fire. You know how inflammable pampers and tissue papers can be,” Okoye said. F. Jerry, the Fire Service Commander for the Nnewi zone, confirmed that the fire had been brought under control. He added that no casualties were recorded, but the cause of the fire remains unknown.
