Ghana Police Apprehend Nigerian Suspect in FRSC Officer and Daughter’s Murder

The Eastern South Regional Police Command in Ghana has apprehended a suspect linked to the killing of Federal Road Safety Corps officer Lasisi Funmilayo Oluwamayokun and her teenage daughter, Sewa Lasisi. The arrest was confirmed on Sunday, November 23, during a press briefing by Regional Commander George Ohene-Boadi. The suspect, identified as Victor Benjamin Fejemirokum, was found hiding at a friend’s residence in Akyem Wenchi, a suburb of Akwatia. Ohene-Boadi explained that intelligence reports indicated the suspect had fled Nigeria to evade arrest. “A Nigerian man suspected of murdering a woman and her daughter in Nigeria fled to Ghana to avoid Nigerian authorities,” he said. The commander noted that the arrest was prompted by a viral video alleging the suspect had abducted and killed the FRSC officer and her daughter in Abeokuta, Ogun State. “Upon learning of his location, our intelligence-led operation swiftly apprehended him,” Ohene-Boadi added. Ghanaian authorities confirmed that arrangements are ongoing to repatriate the suspect to Nigeria. “He is currently in police custody, and steps are being taken to hand him over to Nigerian authorities,” the regional commander said. Lasisi Oluwamayokun, 39, and her daughter were reported missing on November 2 after leaving their home in Obasanjo Hilltop Estate, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. Lasisi was a Superintendent Route Commander, responsible for supervising multiple routes and coordinating strategic operations for the FRSC. Their mutilated bodies were later recovered at a suspected herbalist’s den in Osun State. While several suspects, including the herbalist, were arrested, the main suspect remained at large until his capture in Ghana. Ogun State Police Commissioner Lanre Ogunlowo stated that the investigation has been handed over to the Osun State Command, with Ogun State police providing necessary support.

A 27-year-old man, Chukwuebuka Eweni, has been arrested by New Orleans police after allegedly killing his father and injuring his two sisters in a domestic attack on Pebble Street. Family members told WWL Louisiana that the deceased, Samuel Eweni, was a computer sciences professor at Southern University at New Orleans. The two injured victims were his daughters. Relatives described the attack as sudden and shocking, noting that the suspect had a history of mental illness but had never been violent before. One of the injured sisters has since been released from the hospital, while the other remains admitted but is expected to recover, according to reports. The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) confirmed that Eweni was located in Jefferson Parish and is in custody, undergoing medical evaluation. “Chukwuebuka Eweni has been located in Jefferson Parish. Father Of Late Somtochukwu Maduagwu Insists She Was Murdered, Calls For Fresh Investigation

Engineer Ifeanyi Maduagwu, father of the late Arise News journalist Somtochukwu Maduagwu, has rejected reports surrounding his daughter’s death and is demanding a full, transparent investigation, insisting that she was murdered. Somtochukwu lost her life on September 29 after an alleged attack at her residence in Katampe, Abuja. Early reports claimed she fell from a three-storey building while trying to escape from her assailants, but her father says the story is false and inconsistent with her character. In an interview with BBC Igbo, Mr. Maduagwu maintained that his daughter was deliberately killed. “My daughter, Sommie Tochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, did not and would never jump from a building. I believe my daughter was killed,” he said. He described her as brilliant, cheerful, and afraid of heights. “If you keep Sommie on a table and tell her to jump down, she won’t do it — not to talk of a three-storey building. That’s a lie. I want the police to conduct a thorough investigation because the truth has not yet come out,” he added. He further expressed pain over the slow response when the incident occurred. “I heard that help was called for, but no one came on time. Even at the hospital, she was delayed because they requested identification papers. That broke my heart,” he lamented. Mr. Maduagwu recalled that just days before her death, his daughter spoke about her plans to settle down and her dream of making a difference in Nigeria through public service. Somtochukwu was buried on Saturday in her hometown, Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, after a funeral Mass at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. Family, friends, colleagues, and notable figures — including former Anambra State governor Peter Obi — attended the solemn ceremony. During the service, Rev. Fr. Peter Ezewuzie urged the grieving family to take comfort in faith, reminding them that “the Lord who created us knows the beginning and the end.”
