Nkechi Blessing Quits Movie Production After Losing Over N80 Million
Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has announced that she is stepping away from movie production after suffering heavy financial losses. The actress revealed that she has spent more than N80 million producing films since September but has not made even N1 million in return. According to her, the lack of attention for movies that are not heavily hyped has left her frustrated and discouraged. Nkechi said she would rather focus on enjoying her life and travelling than continue investing in films that fail to gain traction. Sharing her frustration, she wrote: “I give up. I no do again, abeg. I have spent over 80 million naira producing movies since September, and I haven’t received even one million back. I no do again abeg. Make I go back to flying around the world. As una no gree watch film if the Movie is not over hyped, I don try. The ones we were there for self no even fit help. I am done abeg!” Her post has since sparked conversations online about the challenges filmmakers face in the Nigerian movie industry, especially without strong publicity support.
