Wunmi Calls Out Father‑in‑Law Joseph Aloba After SAN Quits DNA Case

Wunmi Aloba, widow of the late singer Mohbad, has slammed her father‑in‑law, Joseph Aloba, after a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) withdrew from the ongoing DNA case. On her Instagram story, she wrote: “Another lawyer, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has withdrawn from the DNA case. To my father‑in‑law, you can get as many lawyers as you want from anywhere in the world; one thing’s certain — you can’t manipulate this DNA. I’m sorry.” She added: “Another lawyer gone. A whole SAN. When people are confident in the truth, they don’t run. They don’t hide. They don’t switch lawyers every month. They don’t ignore court calls. We have cooperated from Day 1. We have never opposed a DNA test. We showed up. We waited. We followed the law.” Wunmi accused her father‑in‑law’s team of delaying the process: “The only people delaying this process are the same people who requested it. No one can manipulate the court, and no one can manipulate science. Let the truth speak — for Liam, for Mohbad, and for justice. November 11 is around the corner. We will be there.” The case revolves around confirming the paternity of Liam, Mohbad’s son, with Wunmi insisting that she has fully cooperated while alleging that the delays stem from her father‑in‑law’s camp.

Mohbad’s Father Gives Lagos Attorney General 14 Days To Prosecute Wife, Nurse And Prime Boy

Mr. Joseph Oluwabamiwo Aloba, father of the late music star Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, better known as Mohbad, has petitioned the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro (SAN), to prosecute those indicted in connection with his son’s death. The petition, dated October 3, 2025, was filed through his counsel, Dr. Wahab Shittu (SAN), and submitted to the Ministry of Justice in Alausa, Ikeja. It demands that within 14 days, legal action be taken against Mohbad’s wife, Omowunmi Aloba, the auxiliary nurse, Miss Ogedengbe Fisayo, Ibrahim Owodunni a.k.a. Prime Boy, and others present in the singer’s apartment at the time of his death. The petition followed the coroner’s verdict delivered on July 11, 2025, by Magistrate Adetayo Shotobi, which found the individuals complicit. The coroner ruled that Miss Fisayo, who is not a certified nurse, doctor, or pharmacist, administered three injections to Mohbad without proper medical diagnosis, describing her actions as unlawful medical practice and gross negligence. The coroner also faulted Omowunmi, describing her decision to allow treatment by an uncertified auxiliary nurse and her failure to insist on emergency or hospital care as negligent. Others in the apartment, including Prime Boy, were indicted for either inviting the nurse or failing to ensure timely hospital treatment. Dr. Shittu stressed that despite these findings, no prosecutorial steps have been taken nearly three months after the verdict. He urged the Attorney General to take immediate action in the interest of justice, or alternatively, grant his legal team a fiat to prosecute the matter on behalf of the state. He emphasized that the matter has drawn wide public attention and outrage, insisting that justice must not only be done but be seen to be done.

TikTok Influencers Remanded for Accusing Mohbad’s Widow of Murder

A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the remand of two TikTok content creators, Saheed Jamiu Osama and Uyime Godwin Udoekwere, for allegedly accusing Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, of being responsible for his death. The defendants were arraigned on charges of defamation, cyberstalking, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace following a protest where they held placards that read: “Wunmi Killed Mohbad! Period! E No Go Better For Wunmi!” The protest video, which went viral on TikTok and other platforms, attracted outrage and prompted a swift response from authorities. Justice Ibrahim Kala, presiding over the case, ordered the remand of the defendants at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending trial. The court scheduled the next hearing for September 25, 2025. The prosecution told the court that the actions of the accused amounted to character assassination, targeted harassment, and incitement against a private citizen without evidence. The arrest has sparked mixed reactions across social media. While some users defended the defendants under the right to free speech, others condemned what they described as “digital mob justice.” Legal analysts say the case could set a precedent in Nigeria’s evolving cyberspace regarding responsible online conduct and the limits of digital expression. Meanwhile, supporters of Omowunmi Aloba have called for justice and accountability against what they describe as “relentless online bullying.”

Mohbad’s mother, Yomi Fabiyi clash over cause of singer’s death

Mrs. Abosede Aloba, the mother of late singer Mohbad and actor Yomi Fabiyi engaged in a heated argument at a World Press Conference in Lagos on Wednesday. Fabiyi had accused Mohbad’s brother, Adura Aloba, of sending him a message claiming to know the cause of the singer’s death. However, Mrs. Aloba vehemently denied the claim, stating that Adura wouldn’t have known the cause of Mohbad’s death and should remain silent. The visibly distraught mother said: “They killed Mohbad, and you want me to lose his brother unjustly. He knows nothing about his brother’s death; do not implicate my son. “I am not happy that I lost Mohbad because if he were alive, I wouldn’t be sitting here with you. They took my precious gift away, and I won’t let them take Adura, too”. Fabiyi stood firm, saying he was more concerned about the message than the sender’s identity. He expressed doubts that Adura wasn’t the one who sent the message, sparking a tense confrontation between the two. “The production and delivery of the SSID cards is, not only a dream come true, but also a testament to the avowed commitment of the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration in ensuring adequate planning, economic development and social inclusion in the State. “It is also heartwarming to note that those who have activated the account associated with the registration have started making use of it for different financial transactions”. He further stressed that the level of technology transfer between the Consultant handling the project and those recruited locally cannot be over emphasised.

Mohbad’s wife, father clash over DNA test

Omowunmi, widow of Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has accused her late husband’s father, Joseph Aloba, of avoiding a Deoxyribonucleic Acid test to resolve the dispute surrounding the paternity of the son she had with Mohbad, The Punch newspaper reports. The Magistrates Court, during its sitting on July 9, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, directed both parties to explore an alternative dispute resolution, leading to closed-door negotiations that also failed to yield an agreement. Mohbad’s father had filed the suit to seek a DNA test for his grandson. In a statement in October 2024, a representative of the family’s legal team, Monisola Odumosu, stated that Wunmi had agreed to carry out the DNA. Odumosu added that this was followed by the settlement terms drafted by both parties. Subsequently, the court further ordered that the DNA test be conducted at a mutually agreed-upon laboratory or medical centre within Nigeria. To ensure and ascertain the reliability of the test, the court further appointed some officers to supervise the process of the DNA test. However, a letter from Salawu Akingbolu Chambers, Omowunmi’s legal representatives, signed by Kabir Akingbolu and dated January 9, 2025, stated that Omowunmi admitted to rejecting Mohbad’s father’s choice of UCH Ibadan while he also rejected her choice of Lagoon Hospitals. Omowunmi added that they had suggested the Eko Hospital and Reddington Hospitals show transparency, as stated in their letter of December 11, 2024. However, Mohbad’s father did not respond. The letter said, “We remain Solicitors to the Respondent in the referenced suit and we have her express consent to write this letter to you. It would be recalled that we have exchanged a series of letters on the above but we seem not to be making any progress and it is sad. Suffice it to say that after we have duly responded to your letter dated 5th of December 2024, which we received and acknowledged on the 9th of December 2024, we have patiently waited for your response but nothing of the sort to date. “Although, we objected to your choice of UCH Ibadan because of the fact that the court itself observed for good reason that it is not proper after your client mentioned the same in open court. In the same vein, we have conceded all the same to your objection to us using Lagoon Hospitals even though no tenable reasons were given. “Quite reasonably, in replacement, we chose two other hospitals which are: The Eko Hospital and Reddington Hospitals, just so for us to show that we absolutely have nothing to hide and this was contained in our letter of 11th of December 2024.” Omowunmi stated that, surprisingly, Mohbad’s father’s lawyer went on social media accusing her of not being ready for the DNA test. “To our utter surprise however, instead of you responding to our letter of the above-quoted date, we saw Mr Taiwo Odumosu of counsel, whom we have profound respect for and Counsel to the Applicant, saying on social media that we are the ones who are not ready for the DNA, whereas that is not the case, and we are by this letter denouncing any such misrepresentation Mr. Taiwo Odumosu of counsel must have tainted us with on the social media. As a matter of fact we deserve an apology for such unhealthy allegations,” the letter added. She also lamented that Mohbad’s father defamed her son on social media. “Also, and most unfortunate is the fact that we saw the Applicant on social media about three (3) weeks ago, defaming and maligning Master Liam, and quite in his usual manner, portraying him as a bastard and this is very unacceptable, especially as the court had asked him to go conduct the DNA that he is now obviously and quite surprisingly running away from in an irreconcilable irony. Very laughable,” the letter continued. Omowunmi threatened to carry out the DNA test independently if Mohbad’s father continued delaying the matter. “We want to ask you to promptly take steps or advise your client to do all that may be necessary to ensure the timely conduct of the DNA so that we can make progress. “If your client, however, chooses to continue in this tardy manner and rather prefers the empty social media hype for bad reasons, you will leave us no other option than to conduct the DNA ourselves and publish the same for the whole world to see. We shall inform the court of our position in this regard,“ the letter stated. In a response dated January 11, 2025, from Hillceetee Partners and signed by Emmanuel Oroko, Mohbad’s father denied the allegations, adding that Taiwo Odumosu never stated in any media interview that Omowunmi was not ready for the DNA test. “Your letter dated 9th January 2025 with the above caption has been shown to our Mr Taiwo Odumosu and upon his instructions, we respond as follows. “Mr Odumosu wishes to inform you that there was no time during his media interaction that he mentioned that your client ‘was not ready for the DNA’. What he was saying, which has been misinterpreted, was that the hospitals had yet to respond to enquiries on their readiness to conduct the test. We heard your client express sentiment in that respect after the media interaction. “Mr Odumosu has absolute respect for your office and your client. He would not in any way derogate the professionalism and maturity both law firms have exhibited so far while the case lasted.” Oroko, however, announced through the letter that their chambers would cease representing Mohbad’s father in the matter. “This response is necessary as a courtesy to your good self and to set the record straight as our chambers no longer represent the Applicant, “the letter stated.
