The statement said: “Governor Monday Okpebholo has approved the appointment of Mercy Johnson-Okojie as Special Adviser on Public Engagement and Advocacy. Johnson-Okojie is a renowned Nigerian actress, producer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, with nearly two decades in Nollywood and over 200 films to her credit. Through the Mercy Johnson Okojie Foundation, she has promoted women empowerment, child welfare, education, and healthcare initiatives.” Ikhilor highlighted that Johnson-Okojie will leverage her popularity and grassroots reach to improve communication between the government and citizens. In a video shared online, VeryDarkMan said he began receiving several messages about a young woman who was allegedly arrested after posting a video based on claims she saw on an Instagram blog. He explained that the lady clearly stated in her video that her source was QTJuice and that she was not the originator of the story. “Alright, so, Mercy Johnson, a lot of people have been sending me DMs in respect of the girl that you arrested. According to them, they said it’s your husband that arrested the girl over a video that she made,” he said. VeryDarkMan narrated the allegation contained in the video, stressing that the lady repeatedly used the word “allegedly” and cited an online blog as her source. He added that shortly after the issue escalated, the blog reportedly went private and the lady deleted her video. Reacting to the arrest, VeryDarkMan condemned what he described as intimidation and misuse of police power, insisting that the matter should be treated as a civil case. “If you have a problem with the girl, take her to court. Na civil matter. Why are you using police to oppress her? You people should go and release the girl,” he said. He also referenced previous cases involving public figures and defamation, arguing that arrests are not the solution. “She said her source. She never said she was the one that made it up. This is intimidation and oppression. Using police to oppress. That’s what you are doing,” he stated. VeryDarkMan further warned that legal action would be taken if the lady was not released, revealing that her wedding was reportedly scheduled to hold soon. “We go send lawyer. We no dey beg. Let the girl go,” he added. Despite his criticism, VeryDarkMan acknowledged Mercy Johnson’s status in the film industry, saying, “I love you, Mercy Johnson.
