Mentally Ill Man Attacks And Kill Nigerian Soldier In Imota, Lagos
A Nigerian Army soldier has died after being fatally attacked by a mentally unstable individual in Imota, Ikorodu, Lagos State. The incident occurred on 16 November 2025 around 4:00 pm during an internal security operation. The soldier had been deployed to help defuse a tense situation in the community when he was struck on the head with a heavy stick, sustaining severe injuries. The Army said colleagues at the scene quickly subdued the attacker and recovered the soldier’s weapon. The injured soldier was immediately rushed to Ikorodu General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was later laid to rest according to Islamic rites, with the Acting Commanding Officer and other officers of the 81 Division in attendance. The Nigerian Army expressed condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the deceased, praising his dedication and service. The 81 Division has launched an official investigation to fully understand the circumstances surrounding his death. Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 81 Division, also addressed a viral video related to the incident, emphasizing that preliminary information is being shared while the investigation continues.
