Sarah Martins Detained By Lagos Sanitation Corps Over Unauthorized Roadside Charity

Actress Sarah Martins was detained by the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) for conducting activities on public infrastructure without official approval, the Lagos State Government has stated. In a statement on Friday, Tokunbo Wahab, Commissioner for the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, said Martins’ charitable cooking on a road median violated the state’s environmental and sanitation regulations. “The incident took place in the Admiralty area of Lekki Phase 1, where an individual was apprehended for unauthorized use of public infrastructure,” the statement said. “While acts of charity are appreciated, they must comply with state laws to ensure public safety, protect the environment, and maintain order in the city.” The commissioner highlighted Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to keeping Lagos clean and sustainable, stressing that improper use of public spaces can disrupt traffic, create health risks, and damage infrastructure. “Actions such as the arrest and removal of equipment are part of the #KeepLagosClean and #ZeroToleranceLagos campaigns. Residents and organizations are urged to seek approval or use designated areas for charitable initiatives, ensuring their activities align with regulations,” the statement added.

Sarah Martins Cries Out After Alleged Assault By KAI Officials While Feeding Homeless In Lagos

Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has accused officials of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) of assaulting her while she was cooking for homeless people in Lagos. The actress took to Instagram to share a video of her bruised hand and express her pain over the incident. She alleged that the uniformed men harassed her, seized her food, cooking gas, and other equipment she was using to feed the less privileged. Martins, who often organizes free feeding programs for vulnerable people, said she was heartbroken that her charitable act was met with violence. She wrote: “My heart aches. Today, as I was cooking free food for the vulnerable and homeless people on the streets of Lagos, like I always do, some uniformed men came there, harassed me, bullied me, and took away the food I was cooking, took away my cooking gas and everything I was making free food with. My only offence was serving love on a plate through my healthy meals. I am not a chef, and I do not cook for a living. My heart aches.”   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Chukwukere sarah ujunwa (@officialsarahmartins)
