Rapper, Ghetts Sentenced To 12 Years For Deadly Hit-And-Run That Killed University Student
British rapper Justin Clarke-Samuel, widely known as Ghetts, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for a fatal hit-and-run in London. The London Old Bailey handed down the sentence on Tuesday after Ghetts admitted to dangerous driving that resulted in the death of 20-year-old Yubin Tameng, a university student from Nepal. In addition to the prison term, he has been banned from driving for 17 years. Tameng was struck by Ghetts’ BMW M5 on October 18, 2025, and died in hospital two days later. Court evidence showed that Ghetts was driving at over 60mph in a 30mph zone and failed to stop at the scene. Presiding Judge Mark Lucraft KC described the incident as “quite appalling” and “simply shocking,” highlighting the severity of the offence. Prosecutors told the court that the case was supported by CCTV footage, toxicology reports, and mobile phone data, which tracked Ghetts’ route across London. They said, “Justin Clarke-Samuel knew he was in no fit state to drive and there was clear evidence of his excessive speed and disregard for road users as he drove incredibly dangerously across our city.”
