NFF Wraps Up CAF B-License Coaching Course

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON) has charged participants at the CAF B-License coaching course to adroitly apply themselves to what they have learnt in the course of the programme that spanned over seven months and four modules. Gusau, who is also President of the WAFU-B Zone, made this exhortation in Abuja on Thursday at the closing ceremony of the coaching course. The first module of the course took place 7th – 12th April, while the second module commenced on Monday, 6th October and ended on 10th October. The third module took place 20th – 24th October, and the fourth and final module was implemented from Monday, 3rd November. “I take pride in our achievements thus far, and although we have a year remaining in our tenure, I remain hopeful that, by the grace of God, we will reach our intended goals. Since assuming office, we have facilitated the CAF B, CAF C and CAF D License programs. The CAF C was exclusively for women – an important step considering Nigeria’s prominence in women’s football across Africa,” he stated. He further emphasized the importance of involving former international players in these initiatives, highlighting, “We recognize the wealth of experience among our ex-internationals, and it is essential to harness their expertise within these programs. Additionally, by organising coaching instructor courses at the zonal level, we aim to create a sustainable model where coaches can receive training without the need to travel to Abuja.” Gusau also expressed his satisfaction upon receiving positive feedback from the CAF Education Officer, Mr. Honour Janza who noted the impressive level of commitment and professionalism displayed by the participating coaches throughout the program. The NFF President confirmed his administration’s intention to conduct a CAF A License coaching course before the end of his tenure in September next year. “We are diligently working with the technical department, coaches, and instructors to initiate the CAF A License course within the first quarter of the upcoming year,” he assured. Lastly, Gusau urged the coaches to apply their knowledge in practice, expressing a desire to see them represented in coaching roles in other African countries. “We aspire not only for our coaches to gain certificates but also to engage internationally, sharing ideas and knowledge. There are coaches, such as one from Tanzania involved in this course, whom we hope to see coaching in various clubs across Africa.” Among those present were the First Vice President of the NFF, Chief Felix Anyansi-Agu; General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, MON; Deputy General Secretary, Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme; NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Davidson Owumi; Technical Director, Austin Eguavoen; NNL Chairman, Chief George Aluo; CAF Education Officer, Honour Janza; NFF Head of Education, Dr Terry Eguaoje; Coaching Instructor, Ambassador Henry Abiodun; Coaching Instructor, Mr. Abdulrafiu Yusuf; NFF Director of Media and Communications, Dr Ademola Olajire and; NFF Internal Auditor, Mr. Godson Iyere.

NFF D-License Coaching Course Takes Off in Abuja

A total of 40 coaches are taking part in a six-day NFF D-License Coaching Course that began in the Federal Capital, Abuja on Tuesday. NFF Technical Director, Coach Augustine Eguavoen, explained that the D-License is a prerequisite for qualifying to take part in the C-License course, and it is in modules and for beginners, and must last a minimum of 60 hours. “Just as it is in life, everything in football is in stages. We have a lot of talented young ones out there, and it is not the way you coach adults that you coach the young ones. Coaching the young ones requires special training. “This course is not going to be a one-off. After this national programme, we will have to take it to the Zones, and subsequently to the States. We have a total of 40 coaches undergoing this programme, and I can assure you they have a lot to learn.” After the record-setting CAF C-License programme exclusively for women coaches that took place over the months of July, August and September last year (three modules) and which involved 30 participants, the NFF organized a CAF B-License Course which saw a total of 30 participants, in April this year. There has also been a Coach Educators’ Course, which involved 25 participants, in July this year.

NFF Selects Participants for First Batch of CAF B-License Coaching Course

Participants in the first batch of the CAF B-License Coaching Course that will run between April and August 2025 have been identified and contacted by the Technical Department of the Nigeria Football Federation. “Those who will take part in the first batch have been selected and contacted. All applicants are advised to check their mails, including junk and spam sections, as time-sensitive information is attached,” NFF Technical Director, Coach Augustine Eguavoen told thenff.com. The four-month course, part of NFF’s strategic effort to build the capacity of coaches across the country, will be done in modules. It will run between 7th April and 25th August 2025. Successful applicants for the second and third batches will be selected and contacted in the coming weeks. Registration for the programme closed at midnight on Tuesday, 25th February, with Eguavoen informing thenff.com that response was impressive. The program is for both men and women. It can be recalled that the NFF organized a CAF C-License course (exclusively for women, and the first-ever) between the months of July and September last year. There were 30 participants, amongst them a good number of former Nigeria international players.

The Nigeria Football Federation has announced that midnight on Tuesday, 25th February 2025 will be the deadline for registration, for those who desire to participate in the four-month CAF B-License Coaching Course that will run between April and August this year. The course, according to the NFF Technical Director, Coach Augustine Eguavoen, is designed to enhance the capacity of Nigerian coaches and prepare them for current and future challenges, and is for both men and women coaches. “As I stated some weeks ago, the CAF B-License course is part of NFF’s strategic effort to build the capacity of coaches across the country, and will be done in modules. It will run between 7th April and 25th August 2025, and to be eligible, a candidate must be an active coach, possess a CAF C-License certificate that has been put to use in the past two years, must be able to read and write in the English language, have basic computer skills and a laptop, have a valid G-mail account, and must submit a medical certificate that proves he/she is physically and mentally fit to undertake the course. “The response has been pretty awesome, and that is why we now have to bring the deadline forward. The new deadline is midnight of Tuesday, 25th February 2025 for intending participants.” Last year, the NFF organised a CAF C-License programme exclusively for women – the first-ever – which drew 30 women coaches from across the country, including a good number of former Nigeria international players. The three-module course took place between July and September 2024.

The Nigeria Football Federation has set in motion concrete plans to organize a four-month CAF B-License Coaching Course that is designed to enhance the capacity of Nigerian coaches and prepare them for current and future challenges. The programme is for both men and women coaches. NFF Technical Director, Coach Augustine Eguavoen told thenff.com that the course is part of NFF’s strategic effort to build the capacity of coaches across the country, and will be done in modules. To be eligible to participate in the course that will run between 7th April and 25th August 2025, a candidate must be an active coach, possess a CAF C-License certificate that has been put to use in the past two years, must be able to read and write in the English language, have basic computer skills and a laptop, have a valid G-mail account, and must submit a medical certificate that proves he/she is physically and mentally fit to undertake the course. “We are targeting a maximum number of 25 participants. Applicants will be provided with a CAF CMS registration link upon successful completion of the pre-course assessment, and will pay the sum of N500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand Naira Only) on or before 31st March 2025,” Eguavoen added. It can be recalled that last year, the NFF organized a CAF C-License programme exclusively for women – the first-ever – which drew 30 women coaches from across the country, including a good number of former Nigeria international players. The three-module course took place between July and September 2024.
