WAEC Extends 2026 CB-WASSCE Registration Deadline To March 13 Amid Technical Challenges

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has extended the registration deadline for school candidates for the 2026 Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) by one day. In a brief post on its official X account on Friday, WAEC announced that registration will now close on Friday, March 13, 2026. The extension follows reports of technical difficulties and high registration demand, issues the council had highlighted in previous updates since January. WAEC has assured that the 2026 CB-WASSCE will be accessible to all students across Nigeria, regardless of their location. The council stressed that the new computer-based format is designed to prevent any candidate from being left out due to limited access to technology or inadequate infrastructure. Measures are being put in place to ensure inclusivity, giving students from rural and underserved communities the same opportunities as those in urban areas. Dr. Amos Dangut, Head of WAEC’s National Office, reiterated this commitment during a sensitization session in Abuja with members of the National Assembly Committees on Education. The session was aimed at educating lawmakers about the CB-WASSCE process and enlisting their support in addressing potential implementation challenges.
