Mbeumo Scores Twice As Manchester United Defeat Brighton 4–2 At Old Trafford

Bryan Mbeumo scored twice as Manchester United battled past Brighton 4–2 at Old Trafford, securing their third straight Premier League victory and climbing to fourth in the table — their best run since February 2024. United looked comfortable for most of the match, storming to a three-goal lead through Matheus Cunha, Casemiro, and Mbeumo before surviving a nervy finish. Cunha opened the scoring with a sharp low strike from the edge of the box, ending his 16-game goal drought and marking his first goal for the club. Casemiro soon doubled the lead in fortunate fashion when his effort deflected off Yasin Ayari, wrong-footing Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen. Mbeumo made it 3–0 on the hour mark, finishing coolly from close range after neat buildup play involving Bruno Fernandes and Benjamin Šeško. But the visitors came roaring back late on. Former United striker Danny Welbeck curled in a stunning free-kick with 16 minutes remaining, before Charalampos Kostoulas headed home in stoppage time to set up a tense finale. Just when it seemed Brighton might complete an unlikely comeback, Mbeumo struck again in the dying moments — rifling the ball into the roof of the net to seal the points and ease the home fans’ nerves. The win continued Manchester United’s resurgence under Ruben Amorim, who has guided his team from a rocky spell into top-four contention. With confidence returning and key players finding form, United appear to have rediscovered their spark ahead of a demanding run of fixtures.

Chiamaka Nnadozie Reveals Loneliness at Brighton

Super Falcons and Brighton goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has opened up on the challenges she has faced since moving to England, admitting that she cries almost every day due to loneliness. The Nigerian international made the revelation on Nike and Versus’ show Nothing Off The Table, which explores what it takes to succeed at the highest level and what it truly means to be a global icon today. The show featured Lucy Bronze, Mariona Caldentey, Nnadozie, and Wieke Kaptein, who discussed topics ranging from football on the pitch to personal relationships off it. Speaking about adjusting to life in a new environment without family, friends, or familiar faces, Nnadozie revealed that her transition from Paris FC, where she spent five years, to Brighton was particularly tough. “It’s not really easy. People think you just come on the pitch and play, but they don’t know the struggles behind it. Since I moved to Brighton, I cry almost every day because I feel lonely. I miss my family,” Nnadozie said. She added that her teammates and coaches have been instrumental in helping her settle: “Thanks to my teammates and coaches, they always check up on me to make sure I’m okay. The most important thing is having people who genuinely care about you. Going on preseason with the team also helped me a lot; the unity and togetherness really made a difference.” Despite the challenges, the 24-year-old believes the experience has made her stronger and more independent. “There were things I thought I couldn’t do on my own, but now I can. I never believed I could live alone, but I’m doing that now. I think I’m becoming a woman, which is really good.” Since her arrival, Nnadozie has quickly become a fan favourite at Brighton. She has impressed in her first four games, keeping two clean sheets and helping her side to two wins, one draw, and a loss.

Everton 2-0 Brighton: Jack Grealish stars at Hill Dickinson Stadium as Toffees win in new stadium opener

Everton 2-0 Brighton: Grealish Stars as Toffees Celebrate New Era at Hill Dickinson Stadium

Jack Grealish delivered a statement performance on his home debut for Everton, assisting both goals in a 2-0 victory over Brighton as the Toffees marked their first Premier League match at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in style. Goals from Iliman Ndiaye and James Garner, combined with a late penalty save from Jordan Pickford, ensured a perfect start to life at their new riverside home and got David Moyes’ side off the mark for the new campaign. Grealish the Architect After a disappointing loss to Leeds on the opening weekend, Everton bounced back emphatically — thanks in large part to summer signing Jack Grealish, who registered two assists and was named Player of the Match. Grealish’s first moment of magic came in the 24th minute, weaving past his marker before delivering a precise low cross that Ndiaye converted with confidence. It was Ndiaye’s second landmark goal in as many matches, having scored the final goal at Goodison Park. In the 52nd minute, Grealish played a key role again, setting up James Garner, who rifled home a thunderous strike from 20 yards to double the lead. “It was positive for the manager as well,” Moyes said post-match. “Jack gave us something different — composure, creativity, and ball retention. He carried the ball really well and was decisive in the final third.” Brighton Waste Chances, Welbeck Misses Penalty Brighton had their opportunities — and plenty of them. Kaoru Mitoma struck the crossbar early on, while Danny Welbeck missed from close range and later squandered a chance to bring his side back into the game from the penalty spot. Matt O’Riley also saw an effort saved after intercepting a poor back-pass from James Tarkowski, and Jan Paul van Hecke struck the post in a chaotic first half for the visitors. The penalty — awarded after Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was penalised for handball — was poorly taken by Welbeck, with Pickford guessing correctly and saving comfortably. Special Day at the Hill Dickinson Stadium The occasion was about more than just three points. With fans exploring Everton Way and posing with commemorative granite stones, the stadium — framed by stone walls and dockside views — offered a sense of history and hope. Architect Dan Meis had called for the new home to become “a bear pit”. Judging by the atmosphere, it’s well on its way. “The crowd gave us everything today,” said Moyes. “To have that backing from the first whistle in a new home — it means a lot.” Player Ratings Everton: Pickford (7), O’Brien (6), Tarkowski (5), Keane (6), Garner (7), Gueye (6), Iroegbunam (7), Dewsbury-Hall (6), Ndiaye (7), Grealish (8), Barry (6).Subs: Beto (6), Alcaraz (6), McNeil (5), Armstrong (N/A). Red-hot Iwobi targets more Premier League goals

Fulham star Alex Iwobi has expressed his willingness to score more goals for the Premier League side.  The Nigerian stated this after grabbing a brace against Brighton on Thursday.  “We wanted to get a win on the board after our last game against Spurs. There’s no better place to do it than at our place. I should be getting more goals but it was good to get them for the team. “We see the ability in training. This performance gives us a boost going into Arsenal, who are on a good run,”Fulham match-winner Iwobi said:  The midfielder continued his red-hot form by leading Fulham to victory and up to sixth in the Premier League with two goals in a 3-1 win over Brighton. The 28-year-old was deployed deeper than usual in central midfield yet pressed high to capitalise on a Brighton mistake in the fourth minute and then curled in a late third for the hosts to make it three goals and two assists in his last four appearances. The game was in the balance until Fulham substitute Andreas Pereira had his corner deflected into the Brighton net by their own midfielder Matt O’Riley. But Iwobi made sure he would steal the show, bending a perfect effort into the bottom-right corner with three minutes left to secure the points. Fulham boss Marco Silva said: “It was a big three points for us in a tough game. We started in the best way possible with the early goal but Brighton made it really difficult for us in the first half. They started with three at the back and it made it difficult for us to connect with the wide players. “Second half we were much better. We conceded in a moment we should prepare better for the long ball. It was a good shot from the edge of the box. Difficult game but a big three points for us. “We played with Alex Iwobi in a different position. He’s an offensive player and did an amazing job.”
