The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated a new Board of Trustees (BoT) in a bid to restore discipline, unity, and moral direction within the party. The ceremony was led by Acting National Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed in Abuja on Friday. Mohammed criticized the previous BoT, led by Adolphus Wabara and Umar Damagum, saying it had become ineffective by shielding party leaders who violated rules, leaving the party divided and morally weakened. “This new Board of Trustees is more than a statutory body; it is a symbol of rebirth,” Mohammed said. “It reflects our determination to return the PDP to its moral center and make it the conscience and guiding compass of the party once again.” He urged the new board members to uphold justice and fairness, stressing that their role is a responsibility, not a reward. “Members must speak truth to power, defend the principles of the party, and ensure the PDP remains a home for all Nigerians. Your actions should inspire confidence, unity, and integrity,” he added. Mao Ohabunwa was elected chairman of the new BoT, with Isah Dansidi appointed secretary. The inauguration was held at the FCT Minister’s official residence in Abuja. Mohammed said the creation of the new board marks a fresh chapter for the PDP, aimed at correcting past mistakes, restoring public trust, and reinforcing the party’s commitment to the rule of law. “Under this leadership, the PDP will no longer tolerate impunity or manipulation. We will rebuild transparency, respect court judgments, and make the party a moral voice in Nigeria’s democracy,” he said. The new BoT is expected to guide the PDP through internal disputes, strengthen discipline, and ensure that the party’s principles of fairness, equity, and inclusivity are upheld.
