Ndidi’s Father Laid to Rest in Delta

Sunday Ndidi, the father of Super Eagles midfielder and captain, Wilfred Ndidi, has been laid to rest in his hometown of Umunede in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State. The retired Warrant Officer of the Nigerian Army died weeks ago in a motor accident, throwing the family, the state, and Nigeria’s football community into mourning. The burial drew relatives, friends, sympathisers, and officials of the Nigeria Football Federation who came to pay their last respects. In an emotional tribute, Wilfred Ndidi described his late father as a disciplinarian and strong supporter whose guidance laid the foundation for his career and life values. “Rest on Eraq. “And for the person wey ‘hit and run’ I find peace in your heart,” the Besiktas of Turkey star wrote on his official Instagram field. President of the NFF, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, who was represented, praised the deceased for his meritorious service to Nigeria and for raising a son who continues to bring honour to the country through football. Prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of his soul and for strength for the family he left behind.

Besiktas Part Ways With Ole Gunnar Solskjær

Besiktas have parted ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjær following their defeat by Swiss side Lausanne in the Conference League play-offs on Thursday night. The former Manchester United player and manager took charge of the Turkish club in January and steered them to a fourth place finished last season. In a shock statement following the game, the club said “Our contract with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær has been terminated following a decision made at a board meeting. “Following the meeting, our chairman, Serdal Adalı, thanked Solskjaer for his services to date.” Besiktas were knocked out of the Europa League qualifiers by Shakhtar Donetsk. Besiktas played St Patrick’s Athletic in their third round tie and were whilst they took a 4-1 lead in the first leg Stephen Kenny’s side gave them a scare in the second leg going 2-0 up before Besiktas found their feet and claimed the win 7-3 on aggregate. Solskjaer named Besiktas new coach

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been named new coach of Besiktas. The former Manchester United manager has been out of football since his sacking in December 2021. Solskjaer said at his presentation: “It’s great to be here. “It’s very nice to see so many people who care about this fantastic football club. “I’ve had a very nice first meeting with the members of the board. “I’m really looking forward to this – it’s fantastic to be in this beautiful city.” Besiktas axed Giovanni van Bronckhorst last month. The Black Eagles currently sit sixth in the Super Lig table.
