At least six final-year nursing students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) have tragically died in a road accident while travelling to sit for their final exams.

The students, all in the 500-level Open and Distance Learning Bachelor of Nursing Science programme, were heading to Ogbomoso, Oyo State, for the final phase of their studies when the crash occurred. One of the victims was reportedly heavily pregnant.

Their bodies have been taken to a mortuary, pending autopsies and further instructions from authorities.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the LAUTECH community and beyond, as classmates and colleagues struggle to come to terms with the loss.

Reports indicate that the victims were practising nurses who had been balancing hospital duties, family responsibilities, and the rigorous demands of their academic programme.

As of now, LAUTECH management has not released an official statement detailing the circumstances of the accident.
