Rivers Lawmakers Initiate Impeachment Proceedings Against Governor Fubara

Rivers State’s political landscape took a dramatic turn on Thursday as lawmakers in the State House of Assembly launched impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his Deputy, Ngozi Oduh.

At a plenary session led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule, House Majority Leader Major Jack presented a formal notice outlining allegations of gross misconduct against Governor Fubara. The notice, backed by 26 legislators, claims the governor acted in ways that contravene the Nigerian Constitution.

Speaker Amaewhule stated that the impeachment notice would be officially served on the governor within seven days.

In the same session, Deputy Majority Leader Linda Stewart read out a similar notice detailing allegations of gross misconduct against Deputy Governor Oduh.
