Papaya Ex Accuses Police Officer Of Assault During Late-Night Stop In Ajah
Nigerian influencer and digital creator Abike Raheem, better known as Papaya Ex, has accused a police officer of physically attacking her during a late-night encounter in the Ajah area of Lagos State.
She shared her experience in an emotional TikTok live broadcast on Friday, alleging that the incident occurred while she was returning home from a movie set. According to her, what started as a routine stop and brief conversation quickly spiraled into a violent confrontation.
Papaya Ex claimed the officer hit her in the face with a gun and also assaulted her driver. She further alleged that the officer touched her inappropriately during the clash.
Although the alleged assault was not fully captured on camera, she blamed network issues for the incomplete footage. During the live session, she showed what appeared to be injuries on her face, including a noticeable mark.
She also accused the officer of slapping her, striking her buttocks and breasts, and forcefully taking her phone amid the altercation.
Videos circulating online show a heated argument, with an officer’s voice audible as both sides exchanged words. However, the full details of what transpired and the authenticity of the claims had not been independently verified at the time of this report.
Visibly upset in the clips, Papaya Ex alleged that police harassment is a frequent occurrence in Ajah, describing it as something residents often experience.
The incident has since stirred reactions on social media, with many users calling for authorities to investigate the matter.
As of the time of filing this report, the Lagos State Police Command has not issued any official response to the allegations.
