Adekunle Gold Drops Sixth Album Fuji Celebrating Lagos Sounds

Adekunle Gold has released Fuji, a 15-track album celebrating the sounds of Lagos. “Guys, all I ask is this: listen in order, no skips. Whether you know the songs or not, trust the sequence. It’s a journey, an experience you can only feel if you go from start to finish. Thank you,” Adekunle Gold said. Before the release, he shared four singles: “Obimo,” “Coco Money,” “Bobo” featuring Lojay and Shoday, and “Believe.” Now, the full album is out, and he wants fans to experience it exactly as he intended — from start to finish. Speaking to Apple Music, Adekunle Gold explained the title: “Fuji started as an acronym: Finding Uncharted Journeys Inside. But I’ve always included fuji sounds. Since my first album Gold, there’s been a fuji-inspired song on every project. Even when I sing R&B, the fuji essence is there. I wanted to share the sound I grew up on.” “Fuji is the sound of Lagos,” he said. “I grew up on it. My auntie played it constantly when I was a child. It’s everywhere — at parties, events, celebrations. It’s part of me.” On Fuji, he leans on Yoruba oral music traditions — apala, fuji, tungba — while telling stories. Tracks like “Big Fish” recount his journey, Many People reflects on success, and “My Love Is the Same” and “Believe” focus on family and love. “I love my culture, my traditions, and heritage. I will always uphold it. As Africans, we have a duty to showcase our culture. I will never stop doing that,” he added. Over a decade after Sade, Adekunle Gold continues exploring different sounds, but with Fuji, he highlights the music that has always defined him. “Headphones on, press play, and don’t skip. AG Baby’s journey deserves to be heard exactly as he imagined it,” he said. THIS IS THE DAY THE LORD HAS MADE🔥 FUJI OUT NOW.A new decade. A new sound. A new legacy. This is BIG FISH! Olubadan Of Ibadanland Says “Am I Not His Brother and Friend?” While Quashing Rift Rumours With Peter Obi

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has dismissed claims of any tension between himself and former Anambra State governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi. Speculation arose after Obi congratulated Oba Ladoja on his installation as the 44th Olubadan, referring to him as “my dear brother.” Critics, including Oriyomi Hamzat, Reno Omokri, and Lere Olayinka, argued that such a phrase was inappropriate when addressing a traditional monarch. In a phone interview confirmed by Prof. Pius Abioje, Oba Ladoja clarified there was no ill feeling. “No, who said that? Why should I be angry with Peter Obi calling me his brother and friend? Am I not his brother and friend?” he said. Peter Obi had congratulated the Olubadan on 26 September 2025, describing him as “my dear brother, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I,” a gesture he said reflected goodwill and respect. Oba Ladoja’s response confirms he was not offended, reaffirming the friendly relationship between the two leaders and putting rumours of discord to rest.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has rejected claims that he would step aside for any candidate in the 2027 presidential election. In a statement released Thursday in Abuja by his media aide, Paul Ibe, Atiku said his comments during an interview with BBC Hausa Service had been misrepresented by some media outlets. “After reviewing both the video and transcript of the interview, in Hausa and English, it is clear that at no point did the former Vice President indicate, suggest, or imply that he intends to step down for anyone,” the statement said. It explained that Atiku had emphasized that young aspirants and other prospective candidates are free to contest the election. “He also made it clear that if a young candidate emerges through a competitive primary, he would support that candidate without hesitation,” the statement added. The press release further criticized misleading reporting, noting that while interpretation is part of journalism, exaggerating statements for sensational effect is unacceptable.
