BREAKING: Court Sentences Nnamdi Kanu to Life Imprisonment

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to life imprisonment. The sentence was delivered in Kanu’s absence, as he had refused to attend the hearing, insisting that the court should not proceed with delivering judgment in the terrorism case brought against him by the Federal Government. Kanu had been convicted on seven counts of terrorism, which included inciting violence, issuing illegal stay-at-home orders in the South-East, instructing the making of explosives targeting government facilities, and membership of a proscribed organization. The court ruled that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt, based on compelling evidence presented during the trial. The Federal Government had urged the court to impose the maximum sentence under the Terrorism Prevention (Amendment) Act, 2013, which allows for either the death penalty or life imprisonment for the offences for which Kanu was convicted. Justice Omotosho noted that Kanu’s conviction was supported by uncontested evidence, including videos and recordings of his broadcasts in which he incited violence and threatened lives in pursuit of the secession of Biafra from Nigeria. The life imprisonment sentence marks a significant development in the government’s prosecution of Kanu and the activities of IPOB, highlighting the legal consequences for terrorism, incitement, and actions that threaten national security. The judgement reinforces the court’s stance on safeguarding public safety and upholding the law against members of proscribed organizations.

The incident occurred on Monday, November 17, 2025, as both men were boarding Flight UN0523 from Asaba International Airport in Delta State to Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. On Tuesday, both VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof posted video apologies on Instagram, expressing regret to the NCAA, the airline, passengers, and the public. Regina Daniels Slams AGN President Over Comments About Her Family and Marriage

Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has fired back at the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, following his public comments about her marital life and her mother, Rita Daniels. On Instagram, Regina expressed her outrage, saying: “AGN President, respectfully, there must be something wrong with you, sir! To say I need help? You have no business speaking nonsense about my family or my mum — who has always praised you. I will not do the same.” She criticized Rollas for failing to deliver on his promises to actors during his eight-year tenure, pointing out that aside from opening an office — which drew criticism despite her family being major sponsors — he has done little to enforce actors’ protections or residuals. Regina also took issue with his insinuations about her personal life, accusing him of bitterness stemming from past visits to her family home: “You brought women into my family home several times for ‘swimming lessons,’ which I warned you about. You have always used high-profile men, luring them with women, just to enrich yourself.” She expressed disappointment in a man she once respected, stating: “What happened to the fatherly figure I admired because of the devotion my mum had for you? You were paid chicken change to speak nonsense about a child who gained nothing under your administration. Instead, my ex-husband and my mother gave you your greatest honor. You should be thankful to my mother for introducing you to him.” Defending her mother’s election and contributions to the guild, Regina added: “I am still in awe that you would try to discredit my mother’s election and diminish her efforts. She has paid her dues in the industry and would be a perfect figurehead to represent actors. Our industry needs strong female leadership, guided by capable advisors, to take us to greater heights.” She concluded her statement firmly, making it clear that she would not tolerate disrespect: “I don’t like rubbish.” Regina’s post highlights her frustration with Rollas, reasserts her support for her mother, and underscores her call for integrity and strong leadership within Nollywood.

Our worry is deep and constant, even as we hear that there have been more abductions.
