NAPTIP Seeks Evidence On Child Abuse In Daycare Centres After Simi Tweets Resurface

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has called on members of the public to provide information and evidence regarding alleged incidents of child sexual abuse and misconduct in daycare centres across Nigeria.

The appeal follows renewed online attention after old tweets by singer Simi, referencing a four-year-old boy, resurfaced and sparked widespread concern.

In a public notice, NAPTIP said it takes all reports of child abuse seriously and is committed to investigating every credible claim. The agency urged anyone with factual information, direct knowledge, or personal experience related to the incidents mentioned in the viral posts, or similar cases, to contact them confidentially via direct message or by emailing info@naptip.gov.ng.

The agency emphasized that its priority is to uphold the rights and safety of children while ensuring that investigations are conducted with diligence, fairness, and adherence to the law.

Although the statement did not specify any particular daycare centres or individuals, NAPTIP highlighted the need for public cooperation to uncover credible evidence, stressing that such collaboration is essential to protecting minors and ensuring accountability.

The call for information has sparked renewed discussions online about child protection, the responsibilities of caregivers, and the importance of safeguarding children in educational and care settings.
