Late Arise TV Journalist Somtochukwu Maduagwu To Be Laid To Rest October 18 In Agulu

The family of late Arise TV journalist and lawyer, Somtochukwu Maduagwu, has announced that her burial will take place on Saturday, October 18, 2025, in Agulu, Anambra State.

According to a statement released by the family, a funeral mass will be held at Saint Theresa Catholic Church, Agulu, before her interment.

A service of songs is also scheduled for Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the Corpus Christi Cathedral on Kaduna Street, Port Harcourt.

Somtochukwu, fondly called Sommie, tragically lost her life after reportedly jumping from a three-storey building during a robbery incident.

The UK-trained journalist and lawyer had returned to Nigeria after two years abroad, driven by her passion to contribute to national development.

Her uncle, Engr. Obi Maduagwu, described her as an ambitious and compassionate young woman who dreamed of making an impact in politics and advancing the cause of women.

Until her death, Sommie worked with Arise Television and was a former first runner-up at the Miss Tourism Nigeria beauty pageant.
