Kannywood Actor Mato Na Mato Dies After Long Illness

Kannywood has lost one of its most cherished stars, as actor Mato Na Mato, popularly known as Malam Nata’ala, has died after battling a long-term illness.

The Potiskum-born actor from Yobe State became a household name for his memorable role as an almajiri school teacher in the widely acclaimed Arewa24 Hausa series, Dadin Kowa.

Before his passing, Mato Na Mato had openly appealed for financial help on social media to cover his rising medical expenses.

In August, he shared that he was spending about ₦250,000 weekly on injections, while also apologizing to anyone he might have offended. His plight eventually reached Niger Republic’s President, General Abdourahamane Tchiani, who donated ₦27 million to support his treatment.
