Hollywood Director Rob Reiner and Wife Michele Found Dead in Suspected Homicide
Hollywood legend Rob Reiner and his wife Michele were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Sunday, authorities have confirmed.
The deaths are being investigated as a possible homicide. Police and firefighters were called to the couple’s Brentwood residence, a high-end neighborhood known for housing celebrities, in the afternoon.
Rob Reiner, 78, was celebrated for directing films such as The Princess Bride, This Is Spinal Tap, When Harry Met Sally, Misery, and A Few Good Men. Michele Reiner was 68.
A family spokesperson said, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”
Authorities confirmed that both were pronounced dead at the scene. No arrests have been made, and police said there are currently no suspects.
The Los Angeles Fire Department reported receiving a call for medical assistance at around 3:38 p.m. local time. Robbery-homicide detectives responded, opening an investigation into the deaths.
Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton said that the bodies remained inside the home several hours after first responders arrived. Police have not disclosed information on injuries or whether any weapon was involved, and the cause of death will be determined by the Los Angeles coroner’s office.
