Herbert Wigwe’s Father Dismisses Claims Of Family Dispute Over Late Son’s Estate
Engineer Shyngle Wigwe, father of the late Access Bank CEO Herbert Wigwe, has debunked reports claiming he is in a dispute with his grandchildren over his late son’s inheritance.
Herbert Wigwe, his wife, and their eldest son tragically died in a helicopter crash in the United States in February 2024. Following their deaths, several online reports alleged that a conflict had erupted within the family over control of the banker’s estate.
Reacting in an interview with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the 90-year-old patriarch dismissed the claims as completely false and malicious.
“How can I want to claim Herbert’s properties? Who is the best person to defend Herbert’s properties—the father or a friend? The father at 90 years? My grandchildren are there! Haba! I beg your pardon! How many more days have I got to live? So what will I do with Herbert’s properties?” he said.
“I trained Herbert. I brought him up. Not a single penny from anybody went into bringing Herbert up. The mother is here. What will I do with Herbert’s wealth?” he added, urging the public to disregard the false rumors.
