Gombe State Internal Security Commissioner Col. Abdullahi Bello Dies in Car Accident

Col. Abdullahi Bello (retd), Gombe State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, has died in a car crash along the Malam Sidi–Gombe road on Friday.

According to Ismaila Misilli, Director-General (Press Affairs) at Government House Gombe, Bello was returning from Maiduguri, Borno State, after attending the North-East Regional Consultation on the Development of a National Disarmament, Demobilisation, and Reintegration framework when the accident occurred.

The crash also claimed the life of his police orderly, Sergeant Adamu Hussaini, while the commissioner’s driver sustained injuries and is receiving medical treatment.

Governor Muhammadu Yahaya described the late commissioner as “a disciplined officer and dedicated public servant who brought his wealth of military experience, leadership, and patriotism into the service of Gombe State.”

He added, “Col. Abdullahi Bello (retd) will be remembered for his courage, discipline, and selfless service, carrying out his duties with unwavering diligence and responsibility.”

The governor extended condolences to the family of the deceased, his colleagues, and the Balanga Local Government community, praying for Allah’s forgiveness and to grant him Aljannat Firdaus. Prayers were also offered for the speedy recovery of the injured driver.
