The Federal Government has disbursed N5.12 billion in pension arrears to 90,689 retirees under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS) through the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD).
This was disclosed on Monday in Abuja by PTAD’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mr. Olugbenga Ajayi, who confirmed that the payments had been concluded.
According to Ajayi, the disbursement covers pensioners across the four pension departments as follows:
- Customs, Immigration, and Prisons Pension Department (CIPPD): 8,626 pensioners, N276.03 million for one month arrears.
- Police Pension Department: 9,681 pensioners, N619.58 million for two months arrears.
- Civil Service Pension Department: 12,773 pensioners, N408.74 million for one month arrears.
- Parastatals Pension Department: 59,609 pensioners, N3.81 billion for two months arrears.
Ajayi reiterated that the payments reflect the administration’s commitment to pensioners’ welfare in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
