Dr. George Moghalu Rejects Anambra Governorship Election Results, Cites Irregularities

Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate Dr. George Moghalu has rejected the results of the November 8, 2025, Anambra State election, which declared incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo of APGA the winner, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Speaking from his Nnewi office shortly after the results were announced, Dr. Moghalu expressed deep dissatisfaction with the conduct of the election, citing widespread irregularities. He highlighted pervasive vote buying and alleged instances of underage voting as major flaws in the process.

“The Anambra governorship election did not meet acceptable standards,” he said. “I have participated in past elections, but this one was different—vote buying was shockingly widespread.”

He also claimed that minors were spotted with voter cards and allowed to cast votes, raising concerns about the credibility of the election. Additionally, Dr. Moghalu noted that in some polling stations, the Labour Party’s name appeared on ballots without its logo, potentially confusing voters and affecting the outcome.

Dr. Moghalu said he would provide a more detailed statement after reviewing reports from LP agents across the state. “Once I have all the information, we will analyse and decide on the next steps. But for now, I reject the declared outcome,” he said.

Regarding the possibility of legal action, he said it was too early to determine, stressing the need for a thorough review of all findings. He also addressed reports of LP agents abandoning certain polling units, explaining that their withdrawal was a result of frustration over what they observed during voting.
