Deji Adeyanju Says El-Rufai Who Once Oppressed Citizens Is Now Pleading For Rule Of Law

Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has criticised former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, saying the ex-governor who once oppressed citizens is now appealing for the rule of law.

The comments followed a failed attempt by security agents to arrest El-Rufai at Abuja International Airport as he returned from Cairo, Egypt. The former governor refused to comply, insisting that any action against him should be communicated through a formal letter of invitation.

El-Rufai wrote on social media, “My lawyers have issued a statement that condemns the illegal attempt to arrest me today at the Abuja airport upon my arrival from Cairo. Our country must outgrow executive overreach and deliberate disregard for the rule of law.”

Responding, Adeyanju posted on X, “El-Rufai who oppressed everyone yesterday is crying and begging for rule of law. Karma, thank you for this.”
