Taye Arimoro Threatens N1 Billion Lawsuit Over Guilds’ Suspension
Actor Taye Arimoro has challenged the suspension handed down by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), and Association of Movie Producers (AMP), threatening to file a N1 billion lawsuit if the sanction is not withdrawn within 24 hours. In a statement posted on Instagram on Tuesday, his lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, said the guilds incorrectly identified him as “Taiye Ayimoro” instead of “Taye Arimoro” and noted that he is not a member of any of the three bodies, making the suspension legally invalid. “The sanctions are procedurally flawed, legally indefensible, and constitutionally void,” the letter read. It demanded an immediate retraction, a written apology, and its public broadcast, warning that failure to comply would result in legal action seeking one billion naira in damages. The suspension followed an alleged incident on November 11 during the filming of Pieces of Love. Taye claimed that after his call time expired, actress and producer Peggy Ovire allegedly blocked his vehicle, insisting he remain for additional scenes, and that he was detained and assaulted by her and her team. He described the treatment as “unlawful, inhuman, and degrading,” citing emotional trauma, psychological distress, a lip injury, and a damaged front tooth. Peggy, however, denied his version of events, with her lawyers asserting that Taye was the aggressor, punching the production manager and her driver. They described his claims as “misleading, selective, and materially false.” Following investigations, the guilds concluded that Taye was the primary instigator. They suspended him indefinitely, requiring a public apology and corrective video, while Peggy was also directed to apologise for escalating the matter outside the set.
Mohbad’s Father Insists Burial Waits Until DNA Test On Son Liam Is Completed
Joseph Aloba, father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, has declared that his son will not be laid to rest until a DNA test is conducted on Mohbad’s son, Liam. In a video shared on Tuesday, Aloba said, “The DNA test is the most important thing. Once it is done, Mohbad will be buried.” He further stressed, “Mohbad will be buried immediately after the DNA test is completed.” Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, and was initially buried the following day, a decision that sparked nationwide outrage. His body was later exhumed for an autopsy amid calls for a thorough investigation into his death. More than two years later, his remains remain in government custody. The renewed controversy over the DNA test comes amid persistent questions about paternity. Aloba has insisted that the test must be conducted in his presence or through a representative to ensure transparency. He maintains that he alone has the authority to authorize the burial and that the DNA result is crucial for “closure.”

Peter Okoye Rejects Report Claiming EFCC Lacks Evidence In Alleged $800,000 P-Square Fund Withdrawal Case
Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has debunked claims that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) lacks evidence to support his petition accusing his brothers, Jude and Paul Okoye, of illegally withdrawing $800,000 from their company account. Peter had petitioned the EFCC in 2024, alleging that Jude diverted company funds, ran 47 undisclosed bank accounts, and altered the shareholding structure of their jointly owned company, Northside Entertainment Ltd. A report by Punch last Friday claimed that during a resumed cross-examination at the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja, EFCC counsel Mohammed Bashir told Justice Rahman Oshodi that the commission could not present evidence of the alleged withdrawal. According to the report, Bashir stated: We do not have it. It is his evidence. Let him prove it. I can’t give what I don’t have. The EFCC was also quoted as saying it had no records of the accounts mentioned. Reacting on social media, Peter dismissed the story as jokes and propaganda, stressing that no such statement was made by the EFCC investigator in any court session.
