Kano Court Orders TikTok Stars Mai Wushirya And Yar Guda To Marry Within 60 Days

NBA Faults Kano Court For Ordering TikTokers Mai Wushirya And Yar-guda To Marry

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has faulted the ruling of a Kano State Magistrate Court that ordered TikTok creators Ashiru “Mai Wushirya” Idris and Basira Yar-guda to marry within sixty days. The controversial order, issued by Magistrate Halima Wali, directed the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board to oversee the marriage ceremony and warned that failure to comply would be treated as contempt of court. The ruling came after Mai Wushirya’s arrest and arraignment for appearing in a viral video where he was seen displaying affection toward Yar-guda. Reacting through a statement signed by its President, Mazi Osigwe, and shared on X, the NBA condemned the judgment, describing it as unconstitutional and a violation of the individuals’ fundamental rights. According to the association, no Nigerian court has the authority to compel marriage between unwilling adults. “This order demonstrates a grave misunderstanding of the limits of judicial power under the Nigerian Constitution,” the statement read. “Marriage is a voluntary union between consenting adults and cannot be imposed as punishment, moral correction, or judicial remedy.” The NBA further warned that the decision could damage public confidence in the judiciary and called for an immediate review of the ruling. “The courts exist to uphold justice and protect citizens’ constitutional rights, not to enforce social or moral expectations,” the statement added. The association directed its Citizens’ Liberties Committee and Women’s Forum to monitor the case and ensure that the rule of law is maintained.

Barcelona Vs Villarreal La Liga Match In Miami Canceled, To Be Played At Villarreal Instead

The La Liga match between Barcelona and Villarreal, originally scheduled to take place in Miami on December 20, 2025, has been canceled. This would have been the first regular-season Spanish league game held outside Spain. The cancellation comes after widespread opposition from clubs, players, and fans. Real Madrid raised concerns with Spain’s Sports Ministry, arguing that moving the match abroad disrupted the traditional home-and-away balance. La Liga players’ union AFE criticized the lack of transparency, and players across the league staged silent protests during other matches. Event organizer Relevent cited insufficient time to properly organize the game and said it would have been irresponsible to sell tickets without full confirmation. Both Barcelona and Villarreal had supported the Miami plan, offering incentives like discounted season tickets and free travel for fans, but expressed disappointment at the cancellation. La Liga said the move set back efforts to grow Spanish football’s international presence and revenue streams. The fixture will now be held at Villarreal’s home ground, La Cerámica, on the original date, December 20, 2025.

Nigerian Woman Kidnapped in Edo Pleads for Public Help as Gunmen Demand ₦20 Million Ransom

A Nigerian woman abducted at Igbira Camp in Auchi, Edo State, has begged the public for help after her captors demanded a ₦20 million ransom for her release. Aisha Wahab, kidnapped last Saturday, was given an ultimatum to secure the ransom by 5 p.m. Tuesday, or she would be killed. In a distressing video circulating online, Aisha is seen pleading for financial assistance as an armed man points a gun at her head and chest. Residents condemned the rising wave of kidnappings in Edo State, accusing the government of failing to provide adequate security. Many described kidnapping as a “lucrative business” thriving under official inaction. The community cited previous unresolved abductions, including two seminarians kidnapped in July 2025 at Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary in Auchi, where a NSCDC officer was killed despite ransom payments. Critics also claimed that security agencies focus more on tracking activists than pursuing violent criminals. They are urging Edo State’s Chief Security Officer, Senator Monday Okpebholo, to take decisive action to curb insecurity and protect residents. Update: The Kidnappers have given Aisha Wahab until 5pm today to raise ₦20M or be klled. pic.twitter.com/c38LMAFKOq https://t.co/4nDzCpisRV — Trending Explained (@TrendingEx) October 21, 2025

In a heartfelt post titled “7 Things the Holy Spirit Healed Me From,” the actress recounted the darkest periods of her life, including two suicide attempts, and how God’s guidance gave her a second chance at life. From Suicide to Survival Tonto shared that depression once dominated her life, leading her to attempt suicide twice. “Depression was my closest companion, and I attempted suicide twice. But God said, ‘Child, get up.’ And I did. Weak, trembling, but alive,” she recalled. She explained that surviving this ordeal taught her empathy: “Now when I see people acting from a place of pain, I don’t judge them. I intercede for them because I know what it feels like to lose yourself trying to survive.” Healing from Anger The actress also described a time when her anger controlled her life, destroying relationships and opportunities. “My anger was not power; it was pain disguised as control,” she said. Through her walk with the Holy Spirit, Tonto learned that peace and silence often hold more authority than rage. Restoration and Deliverance Tonto emphasized how returning to Christ after years of struggle became the most fulfilling chapter of her life. She shared that God delivered her from sexual immorality and restored her completely. “Celibacy has been one of the most powerful experiences of my life. It is not suppression; it is strength. Now I hear God more clearly,” she stated. Grace and Unmerited Favor She reflected on how faith has blessed her life: “Doors open before I knock. Protocols are lifted for my sake. It is not luck. It is grace in motion,” she explained. Sacred Peace Finally, Tonto spoke about protecting her peace fiercely: “If it does not feed my spirit, it does not deserve my energy. Nobody is allowed to stress me — not even me.” Through her testimony, Tonto Dikeh showcased how faith and the Holy Spirit rescued her from the brink of despair, helping her heal, transform her life, and embrace enduring peace and purpose.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by AMB.
