DSS Rearrests Abdulaziz Malami After Father Attempts to Circumvent Bail Process

Abdulaziz, son of former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami, has been rearrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) at Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja following his father’s attempt to secure his release outside standard procedures. The incident unfolded on Friday when Federal High Court bailiffs arrived at the prison with fully processed bail documents to facilitate Abdulaziz’s release. Sources said Malami allegedly requested that his son be quietly removed from the facility, sidestepping the usual formalities. Security officials, who had already placed the prison under heightened surveillance, were reportedly monitoring all movements in and out of the centre after receiving intelligence of efforts to arrange a discreet release. DSS operatives stationed around the prison screened every vehicle leaving the premises, intercepting and rearresting Abdulaziz shortly after he was handed over to those managing his release. A source privy to the matter said, “The bailiffs brought all the necessary papers on Friday, but Malami refused to follow proper procedures and wanted his son snuck out. The DSS profiled every car leaving and rearrested him.” A security insider noted that the move highlights growing concern within the intelligence community over what they described as “irregular attempts” in the handling of Abdulaziz’s release.

Eucharia Anunobi Alleges Threats To Life And Ministry, Accuses Apostle Psalm Okpe Of Malicious Claims

Actress and evangelist Eucharia Anunobi has raised alarms over threats to her life and ministry, claiming that she is under serious danger. In an Instagram video shared on Sunday, she stated, “My life is at risk ❗ My Ministry is under attack ‼️ If anything happens to me, my possessions, or my family—either in Nigeria or abroad—including physical harm or death, Apostle Psalm Okpe, founder of Fresh Oil Ministry, Egbeda Lagos, and his entire family should be held responsible ❗‼️ I am also ready to undergo a medical examination to confirm my chastity over nearly fourteen years since my ordination ‼️‼️” Responding to reports circulating online, Anunobi said, “I want to address the various stories being spread. I remain Apostle Dr. Eucharia Anunobi, and any attempt to distract me will not succeed.” She explained that Apostle Psalm Okpe ordained her and that she once served as an associate pastor under him. “Over time, I observed evil and demonic practices, particularly his engagement in transactional ministry, which created a toxic environment,” she said. Anunobi said she requested to leave the ministry in late 2015 but alleged that Okpe continued to tell people she was still under his leadership for years afterward. She also refuted claims reportedly made by Okpe that he dated her for five years and six months, describing the allegation as “malicious and vile” and saying it caused her emotional trauma. She added that the claim highlights longstanding threats to her ministry and confirmed she has filed a defamation lawsuit against Okpe. The controversy follows the leak of an audio recording allegedly involving Okpe and another pastor, which included unverified statements. Okpe later apologised, saying his remarks were careless and based on hearsay.

NDLEA Arrests Notorious Drug Kingpin Kanmo-Kanmo After 12-Year Manhunt

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has captured Lekan Jimoh, popularly called “Kanmo-Kanmo,” a feared drug baron who had eluded authorities for more than a decade over the killing of three NDLEA officers. According to the agency, Jimoh was arrested on Friday after operatives traced him to a hideout in Owode, Ogun State. Tactical teams moved in and took him into custody, bringing to an end a 12-year pursuit marked by violence, escapes, and repeated clashes with law enforcement. The arrest was disclosed on Sunday by the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, who said officers recovered 69 kilograms of skunk, a cannabis variant, from the suspect during the operation. Jimoh has long been linked to large-scale drug trafficking and was known for mobilising armed thugs to resist arrest. His name became infamous on June 15, 2014, when NDLEA operatives attempting to apprehend him were attacked by a mob allegedly organised by him. The incident led to the deaths of three officers, including Rabiu Usman Kazaure. Although Jimoh escaped at the time, the agency vowed to hunt him down. He again slipped through NDLEA’s dragnet on August 12, 2023, when operatives stormed his residence in Ado-Odo, Ogun State. While he managed to flee, officers recovered 139 sacks of skunk weighing about 1,922 kilograms. The property, said to have been used as a storage facility for drugs, was later forfeited to the Federal Government following court proceedings. The agency described his eventual arrest as a major milestone, stressing that fugitives would be pursued no matter how long it takes. Meanwhile, NDLEA operatives recorded several other arrests and seizures nationwide. In Edo State, officers raided the Arokpa forest in Uzebba, Owan West Local Government Area, arresting 53-year-old Isihor Edika and confiscating 320 kilograms of skunk and cannabis seeds. In Abuja, a 44-year-old woman, Yinka Agboola, was arrested over the online sale of illicit drugs. A search of her home in the Kaura area led to the recovery of 2.2 kilograms of skunk and quantities of cannabis oil allegedly produced in her kitchen. Another suspect, Tordue Pius Richard, 30, was arrested at his residence in Abacha Estate with 148.3 grams of cocaine and skunk. In Lagos, NDLEA operatives seized 118.1 kilograms of skunk from Dauda Kareem and Saheed Obisesan in the Fadeyi area of Mushin, while 116 kilograms of the same substance were recovered from a warehouse at the New Market area of Enugu State. Along the Onitsha–Asaba expressway in Delta State, two suspects, Zaharadeen Yahaya, 25, and Sanusi Maman, 23, were intercepted while transporting large quantities of controlled substances, including tramadol pills, codeine syrup, diazepam, swinol, and molly. In Oyo State, Adetunji Ahmed Abayomi, 33, was arrested at Moniya, Ibadan, with 321 litres of skuchies and 2.5 kilograms of colorado, a synthetic cannabis strain. Another suspect, Rasheed Ajao, 28, was also caught in Ibadan with assorted cannabis products weighing a total of 9.696 kilograms. In a separate raid at Agbeni, officers recovered over 52,000 pills of tramadol and bromazepam from a store belonging to Orji Edwin, who is currently at large. In Kwara State, NDLEA operatives raided a residential building in the Gamo area of Ilorin, seizing 42 bags of skunk weighing 387.40 kilograms. At the Apapa Port in Lagos, a joint operation involving NDLEA, Customs, and other security agencies uncovered 157,519 bottles of codeine syrup concealed in a container. In Jigawa State, an ex-convict, Gaddafi Ammani, 26, was arrested alongside his accomplice, Ahmed Sani, 32, at Nassarawa GRA, Ringim Local Government Area. Ammani reportedly attempted to escape by jumping across rooftops and threatened officers with a machete, injuring one operative before he was overpowered. NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), praised officers across various commands for their efforts, urging them to sustain the momentum in the agency’s fight against drug trafficking. He described Jimoh’s arrest as a clear signal to drug lords and fugitives that justice may be delayed but will not be denied.

Senegal Win Second AFCON Title In Six Years After Controversial Extra-Time Victory Over Morocco

Senegal lifted the Africa Cup of Nations for the second time in six years after defeating hosts Morocco in a dramatic and controversy-filled final in Rabat. The 2025 AFCON showpiece turned chaotic late in regulation when Congolese referee Jean-Jacques Ndala awarded Morocco a penalty in the 98th minute following a VAR review that ruled Moussa Diouf had fouled Brahim Díaz inside the box. Senegal’s players and coaching staff erupted in protest, with head coach Aliou Thiaw ordering his team to walk off the pitch. The frustration was heightened by an earlier incident when Senegal had a goal disallowed for an alleged push on Achraf Hakimi, a decision made without VAR, sparking claims of inconsistent officiating. As tensions escalated, several Senegal players began heading toward the tunnel, threatening to abandon the match, but captain Sadio Mané stepped in to rally his teammates back onto the field. Play eventually resumed, with Édouard Mendy returning to goal as Díaz prepared to take the penalty. The Moroccan striker attempted a panenka, only for Mendy to stay composed and collect the ball, a pivotal moment that shifted momentum in Senegal’s favour. In extra time, Senegal seized their opportunity. Pape Gueye struck a sensational long-range effort in the fourth minute of added time, sending the ball past the Moroccan goalkeeper and silencing the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium. Morocco failed to respond, allowing Senegal to hold on for victory. The win secured their second AFCON title in six years, in a final remembered as much for its controversy and tension as for Gueye’s decisive strike.

AFCON Final Chaos As Senegal Protest Late Penalty And Crowd Trouble Delays Match

Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations final was thrown into chaos as the closing moments of regulation time were delayed by nearly 20 minutes following furious protests from Senegal players over a disputed penalty awarded to Morocco, while clashes also erupted in the stands. Several Senegal players walked off the pitch in protest, and enraged supporters hurled objects as some attempted to force their way onto the field at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium. The tension peaked as Morocco were handed a chance to decide the final with what was effectively the last action of normal time. The spot kick, taken by Brahim Diaz in the 24th minute of added time, failed to break the deadlock as Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy denied him with a save, keeping the scoreline at 0-0 and pushing the final into extra time. The controversial decision came after a prolonged VAR review by the Congolese referee, who ruled that Senegal defender El Hadji Malick Diouf had fouled Diaz inside the box. Diaz was at the centre of the protests, strongly appealing for the penalty, with members of the Moroccan bench also joining the calls. Security officials and stewards quickly formed a protective line in front of a small group of Senegal fans at the far end of the stadium, and order was eventually restored as the match moved into extra time.
