Wike Insists On Staying In PDP Amid Lawmakers’ Defections To APC

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, insisting he will not follow the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly and 15 other lawmakers who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC. Speaking after inspecting road projects in Abuja, Wike described the defections as a consequence of the deepening divisions within the PDP but stressed that he remains committed to the party. “I am still in the PDP. Out of 27 members, 16 or 17 have left, but we still have a good number, about 10, and we will continue to work together,” he said, emphasizing his determination to stay. He called on PDP leaders to act swiftly to resolve the crisis threatening the party’s unity. “If you don’t put your house in order, it is the party that suffers. Those who have left are free, but those who remain will continue to work together,” Wike added. Responding to viral claims that he had been arrested in France, Wike dismissed the reports as false and politically motivated. “Last time, they said I was sick and flown abroad. Now, they claim I was arrested in France. I am focused on my work, and distractions will not deter me,” he said. Wike reiterated that his priority is delivering on his mandate and maintaining the confidence of President Bola Tinubu. “As long as the President is satisfied with my work, I will continue to focus on performance. Criticism will not sway me from my commitment to the PDP,” he said. He added that consistent performance and dedication to the party will eventually quiet critics. “People will ignore lies over time. Critics will always play politics, but I remain focused on my work and loyal to the PDP,” Wike concluded.

VeryDarkman Admits He Initiated Call Leading to Harrison Gwamnishu’s Arrest in Edo State

Social media commentator VeryDarkman has revealed that he was the one who initiated the call that led to the arrest of activist Harrison Gwamnishu, currently in police custody in Benin, Edo State. In a video shared on Facebook, VeryDarkman said he first learned of an incident involving Gwamnishu in Auchi and was disappointed by the details he received. He claimed he had advised those involved to keep the matter private, but after a video emerged online, he felt compelled to act. VeryDarkman described Gwamnishu’s response video as an attempt to “gaslight” the public and manipulate sentiment. He added that the police had instructed witnesses not to record the incident, but one person captured a clip showing Gwamnishu returning money related to the case. Addressing claims that jealousy motivated his actions, VeryDarkman insisted that he intervened to ensure “the truth” was upheld. He expressed hope that once Gwamnishu is released, the activist will publicly clarify the incident, warning that he may disclose further details if that does not happen. He stated: “Harrison Gwamnishu is in police custody in Benin, Edo State. He was arrested yesterday night. In all honesty, I initiated the call that led to his arrest. I did. I’m really disappointed in everything, but I would wait for him to come out, and this time, I want him to use his mouth to say the truth about what happened in Auchi. “When the whole thing happened, they called me. I was surprised, so I had to make other calls, spoke to the police, asked different questions, and when the story was confirmed, I was sad. “Then I saw Harrison had made his own video to explain. When I watched it, it was really gaslighting, especially because I know the truth. He didn’t manage it well, trying to counter the narrative, seek sympathy, and manipulate people emotionally. I was disappointed. “Anyway, he’s in police custody. I made that call, and when he comes out, I hope he will tell the public the truth. As for the money, whether he took it or not, here is a video of him returning it.” “Harrison was arrested last night, in all honesty i made the call that led to his arrest. I am really disappointed in everything, but i will wait for him to come out and use his mouth to say the truth about what happened in Auchi." ~ Verydarkman pic.twitter.com/Nd17nskKhL — Nigeria Stories (@NigeriaStories) December 5, 2025

Ned Nwoko Reacts As Man Admits Lying About Assassination Plot Against Regina Daniels

Senator Ned Nwoko has responded after a man who earlier accused him of plotting to kill his wife, actress Regina Daniels, surfaced in a new video begging for forgiveness and admitting that the claim was false. The original allegation, which spread rapidly on TikTok, had sparked controversy after the man claimed he was promised N5 million to carry out the act. Days later, the same individual appeared in a fresh clip shared by the senator, apologising and confessing that he makes up stories online for attention. Reacting, Nwoko used the incident to raise alarm over what he described as the dangerous state of Nigeria’s social media space. “The accompanying video, trended a couple of days ago. It is testament to the fact that Nigerian social media space has become one of the most unregulated in the world. Laying very serious allegations have become a common trait to attract millions of views without recourse to the damaging effects on the people involved.” He warned that the lack of consequences for online falsehood encourages people to fabricate damaging stories simply to trend. “This case and many others has now clearly justified the urgent need for the social media bill in the National Assembly. You can’t lie to make money and turn around to apologize after criminally defaming and hurting people.” The senator also took aim at social media companies, insisting they should be legally compelled to operate offices in Nigeria and be held accountable for content shared on their platforms. “It is time for social media companies to be mandated to open offices in Nigeria and to take responsibility for what they allow on their platforms. If landlords are being threatened with punishments for actions of their tenants who are yahoo boys, what stops social media companies from being held responsible for allowing defamatory contents in their platforms.” He further questioned why foreign tech firms enjoy what he described as regulatory freedom while Nigerian media organisations face strict defamation laws. “All our local media houses comply with laws concerning defamation. Why make an exception for foreign companies who don’t pay taxes and ultimately avoid all manner of liabilities because of the absence of regulations.” Nwoko concluded by calling on Nigerians to support his proposed social media regulation bill, noting that it would create jobs, improve tax revenue, make litigation easier, help in tracking criminals, and ensure that national data remains within the country. “It’s Senator Ned today, who knows who is next?” The accompaning video, trended a couple of days ago. 2Baba Accuses Family Of Ruining His Home As Wife Faces Death Threats

2Baba has broken his silence on the escalating controversy around his marriage, accusing members of his family of crossing the line and triggering a wave of threats against his wife, Natasha Osawuru. The singer’s emotional reaction followed a police petition reportedly submitted by his relatives to the Inspector-General of Police. In the petition, Natasha was accused of assault, bigamy and financial misconduct, with claims that she allegedly attacked the artiste in both the UK and Abuja and took possession of his passport and other personal documents. In a heated video response that quickly spread online, 2Baba disowned the claims and described the entire situation as a dangerous distortion of the truth. “I’m a grown man, and I believe I have the right to be with whoever I want to be with. I’m perfectly okay. I recently performed at a show in Abuja,” he stated, pushing back strongly against any suggestion that he is being controlled or manipulated. He disclosed that the fallout from the petition has now put Natasha’s safety at risk. “My family, who claim they want to save me, have actually destroyed me and damaged someone’s daughter’s character. Natasha is getting death threats right now,” he revealed. While admitting that he and his wife recently had a disagreement, 2Baba insisted it was nothing unusual. “Natasha and I had a quarrel, which is normal between couples, but this is getting out of hand,” he said, warning that the situation has now moved beyond private marital issues into something far more dangerous. He also suggested that this is not the first time his family has interfered in his relationships, hinting at similar past experiences. “My family did this with Annie too. I’m a peaceful person, but this is getting to me too much,” he added. Describing the petition and the viral narratives as deliberate falsehoods, the singer dismissed them as “fabricated lies and stories” and “nonsense.” He admitted that the crisis has left him emotionally drained and under intense pressure, while promising to address several long-suppressed issues in the coming days. Calling for an immediate end to the threats and public attacks, 2Baba condemned the portrayal of him as mentally unstable. “This tag of me being mentally unstable is ridiculous and equivalent to killing somebody. This has to stop,” he said. “I beg everyone to have some human conscience and stop the death threats and harassment.” He also issued a direct warning to his relatives to step away from his personal life. “Writing petitions and saying all sorts of nonsense is not fair. I want my family to stay out of my private and personal life. Just let me be,” he stated. Bringing his message to a close, 2Baba painted a grim picture of the emotional damage already done. “Natasha has been hurt terribly. You are ruining my home. In the name of saving me, you are destroying another person’s life. Please, just let us be.” "This whole thing has gotten dangerously out of hand… I'm a grown man and I believe I have the right to be with whoever I want to be with… Natasha is getting d3ath thr3ats right now… This has gotten out of hand." ~ 2Baba says pic.twitter.com/A8XYvDvXUr — UNCLE KAY👤 (@IAMZIIKKO) December 5, 2025

Sheikh Ahmad Gumi Claims Foreign Powers Are Backing Terrorist Groups In Nigeria

Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has claimed that foreign powers are backing terrorist groups responsible for the rising insecurity in Nigeria. In an interview with BBC Hausa Service, Gumi said recent attack patterns across the country suggest external support for armed groups, noting that the situation contradicts earlier signs of improvement in national security. He cited the Abuja–Kaduna highway, once considered highly dangerous for commuters, which had become safer in recent months before the latest surge in violence. He also highlighted farmers in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State, who had returned to their farmlands after previously abandoning them due to persistent threats, indicating a temporary improvement in security. Gumi urged the Nigerian government to intensify intelligence gathering, strengthen diplomatic efforts, and investigate all foreign links that may be contributing to the country’s insecurity.
