Tinubu Meets Traditional, Religious Leaders At Aso Rock

President Bola Tinubu on Monday welcomed the Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, along with several other religious and traditional leaders at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The meeting took place during an interfaith iftar organised to mark the fasting period and encourage unity among leaders of different faiths across the country. Speaking at the gathering, Tinubu said his administration remains determined to rebuild Nigeria’s economy and create a stronger foundation for the country’s future generations. He explained that the policies introduced by his government helped prevent the nation from sliding into bankruptcy, even though they initially brought economic challenges for citizens. “At least, this government has saved Nigeria from going bankrupt. We are now shifting our focus to health, agriculture and education.” The president added that with the economy beginning to stabilise, the government is now directing attention toward sectors that can drive development, including agriculture, healthcare and education. Meanwhile, the Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, was represented at the event by the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahya Abubakar. In his remarks, the traditional ruler pointed to the fact that Muslims and Christians are observing fasting around the same period as a reminder of the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians. He also expressed optimism that the Tinubu administration has the ability to address the security challenges affecting parts of the country, while pledging continued loyalty to the president.

Tonto Dikeh Opens Up About How Holy Spirit Saved Her From Depression and Suicide

Tonto Dikeh Responds To Backlash Over Deliverance Video, Says Her Eyes Are On Jesus

Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has fired back at critics following the reactions that trailed her recent deliverance video, insisting that she will not be discouraged from speaking about her faith. Responding to the backlash, the actress explained that the mission she believes God has given her is too significant to be derailed by online opinions. She said her attention remains fixed on Jesus rather than the criticism circulating on social media. “THE ASSIGNMENT GOD HAS PLACED UPON ME IS TOO IMPORTANT TO GET DISTRACTED. MY EYES ARE ON JESUS, AND HE NEEDS NO ONE TO DEFEND HIS NAME.” Dikeh, who described herself as Evangelist Tonto Dikeh, stated that she is willing to face public ridicule if that is what comes with openly declaring her faith. “I EVANGELIST TONTO DIKEH WOULD RATHER BE MOCKED, RIDICULED, would rather be mocked, ridiculed, or even slain than silence the name of the one who saved me. I REFUSE TO HIDE GOD TO PROTECT MY IMAGE BEFORE MERE MORTALS.” She maintained that the criticism has not shaken her resolve, adding that she would gladly accept mockery if it means remaining true to her beliefs. “IF IT COMES TO IT, I WILL WEAR MOCKERY LIKE PERFUME AND CARRY REPROACH LIKE A CROWN, BECAUSE HE IS WORTH IT ALL.” Concluding her message, the actress expressed love for both those who support her and those who oppose her, while suggesting that the battle she faces is spiritual rather than personal. “I LOVE YOU ALL(the good, the ugly and the bad) THE WORLD IS NOT FIGHTING ME, THE KINGDOM OF HELL IS, AND I UNDERSTAND THIS. SO NO HATE OVER HERE, WE BATTLE ON OUR KNEES IN PRAYER. THAT WHERE TRUE STRENGTH IS FORGED, AND TRUE VICTORIES ARE WON.”

Australia Grants Asylum To Five Iranian Women Footballers After Anthem Protest At Asian Cup

Five members of Iran’s women’s national football team have been allowed to remain in Australia after the government approved humanitarian visas for them following their exit from the Asian Cup. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese confirmed the decision on Tuesday, saying the move was made amid fears the players could face consequences if they returned to Iran. “Australians have been moved by the plight of these brave women. They’re safe here and they should feel at home here.” Concerns about the players’ safety emerged after they declined to sing their national anthem before their opening match at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup, a tournament currently being staged in Australia. The situation drew global attention, including from Donald Trump, who urged Australian authorities to intervene. Trump had earlier warned that allowing the athletes to return to Iran would be a “terrible humanitarian mistake.” Albanese disclosed that he spoke with Trump earlier on Tuesday and described the conversation as productive. After the visas were approved, Trump later praised the decision in a follow-up message on social media. The Australian leader also indicated that other members of the Iranian squad could receive assistance if they request it, stressing that the matter remains sensitive and any further steps would depend on the choices of the individuals involved.

Ogba School Collapses Minutes After Evacuation, Students and Teachers Escape Unharmed

Students and staff of Yemco Nursery, Primary and Comprehensive College in Ogba, Lagos, narrowly avoided a tragedy on Monday when the four-storey building housing the school collapsed shortly after it was evacuated. The incident occurred around midday at 11 Adudatu Street, behind County Hospital in the Aguda area. Witnesses said the evacuation happened just minutes before the structure gave way, preventing what could have been a catastrophic loss of life. Residents reported that concerns had been raised earlier when wooden planks fell from the roof, causing alarm in the neighbourhood. One resident said an elderly man alerted the school authorities about the building’s instability, prompting the quick evacuation of students and teachers. “It was just about three minutes after the students were evacuated that the building collapsed,” the witness added. Another local, Taiwo Ridwan, described the warning signs leading up to the collapse. “The house started cracking little by little. The window frames had already fallen apart. Soon after, the cement began peeling off. Not long after that, the building just sank,” he said. Officials from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service quickly secured the scene and restricted access to the area. A portion of the property, used for residential purposes, remained standing beside the collapsed structure. No injuries or fatalities have been reported. The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is yet to issue an official statement, and attempts to reach the service’s director of public affairs, Margaret Adeseye, were unsuccessful.

Arsenal Face Southampton As Man City Draw Liverpool In FA Cup Quarter-Finals

Arsenal have been handed a trip to Championship club Southampton in the next stage of the FA Cup after the Saints eliminated Fulham in the previous round. Another blockbuster tie will see Manchester City welcome Liverpool to the Etihad Stadium in an all-Premier League showdown. Elsewhere, the winner of the fifth-round clash between West Ham United and Brentford will host Leeds United when the fixtures are played during the weekend of April 4. The draw was held at the London Stadium before West Ham faced Brentford in the last outstanding fifth-round game. Former England internationals Joe Hart and Joe Cole were on hand to conduct the draw. League One’s bottom club, Port Vale, delivered the biggest shock of the round after edging Premier League side Sunderland 1-0. Ben Waine found the net in the 28th minute, and despite it being their only effort on target, the goal proved decisive as the Stoke-based side progressed. Arsenal secured their place with a narrow 2-1 victory over Mansfield Town. Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze were on target for the Gunners, helping them avoid the type of upset that saw Burnley crash out in the previous round. Chelsea were pushed hard by Wrexham but eventually prevailed 4-2 after extra time against the 10-man side. Manchester City also advanced comfortably, defeating Newcastle United 3-1 to record their fourth win of the season over Eddie Howe’s team. Southampton’s place in the draw came courtesy of a late Ross Stewart penalty that sealed a 1-0 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage. Liverpool, meanwhile, responded to their league defeat to Wolves by beating them 3-1 at Molineux, while Leeds United eased past Norwich City with a 3-0 win at Elland Road.

Viral Video Shows Suspected Child Soldiers In Borno Forest

Residents of Borno State are expressing alarm after a video surfaced showing young children, suspected to be terrorist child soldiers, dressed in full military camouflage in a remote forest. The footage, obtained on Monday, shows about 18 children standing in formation, fully kitted in combat uniforms and celebrating in the isolated area. While the exact location has not been confirmed, locals say the language spoken by the children points to the Ngoshe axis in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno South Senatorial District. Junaid Jibril Maiva, Secretary of the Coalition of Borno South APC Youth Group, described the video on Facebook as a “ticking time bomb” and called for immediate government intervention. “These appear to be child soldiers, possibly from the Ngoshe axis, judging by the language they are speaking. If this is not a ticking time bomb, then I don’t know what is,” he wrote, adding that decisive action is needed to prevent further escalation: “The government must act deliberately and decisively, or this war risks consuming us all.” Another social media user, Muhammad Abdulrahman, suggested the children might be hostages, noting that the Nigerian Air Force faces challenges because the armed groups may be holding hundreds of civilians. When contacted, Borno State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Zuwaira Gambo, said many of the children could have been forcibly recruited during recent attacks. “I have not seen the video, but I can say from experience that such children are often victims who are forcefully taken from streets and schools. Following the recent attacks, it’s possible they were made to wear uniforms,” she explained. Gambo also noted that before the latest wave of attacks, the Borno State government had made significant efforts to prevent children from being recruited or exploited by armed groups. 💔💔SAD FOOTAGE: 💔💔Ugly sight of child-T€rror!sts😭 forcefully wearing military uniform of our slain-soldiers😭. They are young, innocent and ignorant of what they are doing.
