Pastor Chris Okafor Withdraws Apology To Doris Ogala Amid Ongoing N1bn Lawsuit

Fresh controversy has erupted between clergyman Chris Okafor and Nollywood actress Doris Ogala after the pastor publicly renounced the apology he once made to her during a church service.

The cleric had earlier sparked reactions in December 2025 when he knelt during a sermon and apologized to the actress amid the dispute surrounding their relationship. However, speaking to his congregation recently, Okafor clarified that he does not accept responsibility for the accusations levelled against him.

He explained that the apology delivered at the time was not because he was guilty but was done to honour spiritual leaders who supported him throughout the controversy.

“I withdraw that, there was no single apology because I cannot apologize for what I don’t know”.

The disagreement between both parties began after Ogala accused the pastor of failing to fulfil a promise to marry her. She also alleged that he shared explicit materials and caused her emotional pain.

Following the claims, the actress filed a lawsuit against the cleric, demanding N1 billion in compensation for an alleged breach of promise to marry.

In the court filing, Ogala maintained that Okafor had assured her he would marry her, introducing her to members of his family and including her in family gatherings before eventually tying the knot with another woman, Pearl Okafor.

She also accused the pastor of circulating her private photographs without permission and claimed he used 45 million naira she entrusted to him without her approval.
