Sophia Momodu Files N1 Billion Lawsuit Against Davido Over Harassment And Defamation

Sophia Momodu’s lawyers have filed a N1 billion lawsuit against Davido, accusing the music star of harassment, threats, cyberbullying, and defamation following a heated exchange in court.

The legal action stems from the February 12, 2026 hearing of the custody suit between Davido and Momodu at the High Court of Lagos. According to the pre-action notice, Davido allegedly became verbally abusive and aggressive toward Momodu, who appeared as counsel for the respondent. The court reportedly instructed him to apologise publicly, a directive he is said to have ignored.

The notice further claims that in the days following the hearing, Davido’s affiliates shared Momodu’s photograph and identity on social media, exposing her to a flood of abusive messages and threats. Davido is also accused of posting defamatory statements on his verified Instagram and X accounts, directly tagging Momodu and making false claims about her professional conduct, which allegedly encouraged his followers to target her.

Momodu’s legal team also stated that Davido publicly attacked people he mistakenly believed were her relatives, including gospel singer Tosin Bee, exposing innocent individuals to threats and ridicule. The lawyers said these actions have caused serious emotional distress, reputational damage, and well-founded fears for her safety and that of her family.

To prevent formal court proceedings, the pre-action notice demands that Davido immediately stop all commentary about the case, issue a public retraction and apology on all verified platforms, direct his associates and followers to cease harassment, and pay N1 billion in compensation. If these demands are not met within seven days, Momodu intends to proceed with litigation at the High Court of Lagos.
