Police Speaks On Late-Night Ajah Stop Involving Papaya Ex
The Nigeria Police Force has given its account of the confrontation involving influencer Papaya Ex in Ajah, Lagos.
According to Force spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, the incident happened around 2am during a routine night patrol. Officers reportedly stopped a vehicle carrying three men and two women and requested to search it as part of standard procedure.
Hundeyin alleged that one of the occupants refused the search, stating, “You cannot search my car. Don’t you know Papaya? Even your bosses know me.” He said the group later agreed to head to the police station, with an officer entering their vehicle while the patrol team followed behind in their van.
The spokesperson further claimed that along the way, the driver was instructed to accelerate, creating distance between the two vehicles. To prevent losing sight of them, officers reportedly contacted another patrol unit positioned ahead to intercept the car. He noted that the livestream circulated online began during that interception.
Hundeyin added that the Lagos State Police Command will conduct further investigations to determine the full details of the encounter.
