Olasco Films Labels Wale Akorede And Austin Emmanuel Ingrates, Denies Allegations

Veteran Nollywood movie marketer Akeem Olatunji Balogun, popularly known as Olasco Films, has hit back at actors Wale Akorede and Austin Emmanuel, labeling them ingrates over recent allegations against him.

Olasco made the comments while responding to claims from the actors in separate interviews.

Wale Akorede had earlier accused Olasco of allegedly keeping all the proceeds from a movie produced for him about 16 years ago, saying he has not forgiven the filmmaker for the incident.

Similarly, Austin Emmanuel claimed that Olasco Films and its affiliate, Toymax Films, had blacklisted him in the industry. Emmanuel, who has been absent from the screen for years, also alleged that Toymax had a personal dispute involving his girlfriend.

Speaking in an interview with actor Tunde Ola-Yusuf, Olasco dismissed the allegations, insisting he had supported both actors at different points in their careers. He revealed that he had paid Akorede ₦2 million for the movie, at a time when production costs typically ranged between ₦700,000 and ₦1 million.

Describing his relationship with Akorede as akin to helping someone only to be forgotten, Olasco insisted the claims of unpaid work were false.

He also suggested that Austin Emmanuel’s accusations were an attempt to gain attention, noting that he had promoted the film that first brought Emmanuel into the spotlight.
