Atiku Rejects Rumours Of Backing Peter Obi For One-Term Presidency In 2027

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has firmly denied reports claiming he has exited the 2027 presidential race, describing the narrative as false and misleading.

The claims alleged that Atiku, who flew the flag of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 presidential election, had agreed to step down in favour of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s candidate in the same election. The report further suggested that Atiku endorsed a one-term presidency for Obi as part of an arrangement to promote regional balance.

However, Atiku’s media adviser, Paul Ibe, has refuted the claims, insisting that no such decision was taken by the former vice president. Reacting to the report on Saturday, December 27, Ibe shared a screenshot of the story on his verified X account and wrote, “Fake news: Not on the menu!”

The rebuttal comes at a time when separate reports suggest that Peter Obi is making plans to formally align with the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
