BREAKING: Achraf Hakimi Wins 2025 CAF Player of the Year
Morocco and Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi has been named the 2025 Player of the Year by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The 27-year-old claimed the award ahead of Victor Osimhen of Nigeria (Galatasaray) and Mohamed Salah of Egypt (Liverpool), taking over from Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman, last year’s winner.
Hakimi had finished as runner-up for two consecutive years before finally clinching the top prize.
Last season, he was instrumental in PSG’s historic campaign, helping the French club secure the Ligue 1 title, the French Cup, and their first-ever UEFA Champions League trophy.
The award ceremony on Monday saw Hakimi arrive with his foot heavily strapped, as he is currently sidelined due to injury.
