Court Fixes November 20 For Judgment In Nnamdi Kanu’s Terrorism Case

The Federal High Court in Abuja has set November 20 as the date to deliver judgment in the terrorism case filed against the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Justice James Omotosho announced the date on Friday after Kanu failed to open his defence despite being given six days by the court to do so.

In his ruling, the judge stated that Kanu’s failure to present his case within the allotted time meant he could not claim to have been denied a fair hearing, emphasizing that due process had been followed.

However, Kanu, through his legal team, challenged the continuation of his trial, insisting that the terrorism law used to charge him was no longer in effect.

He argued that the Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act had been repealed, and as such, the charges against him were invalid.

The IPOB leader maintained that there was no legal basis for his continued prosecution and urged the court to dismiss the case and grant his immediate release.
