Team Brazil Secures Breakthrough Win At E1 Lagos GP Ahead Of Miami Finale

Team Brazil delivered a sensational performance at the E1 Lagos Grand Prix on Sunday, racing to their first-ever victory in the electric powerboat world championship after a dominant weekend display.

The team, led by ace pilot Timmy Hansen, turned their pole position from Saturday’s qualifying into a statement win, cruising through the heats and final to claim the top spot.

Team Blue Rising finished second, with Team Drogba securing third place, while heavyweights Team Rafa and Team Brady — both leading the overall standings before the Lagos event — failed to reach the podium.

The victory earned Team Brazil 38 points, taking their total to 89. However, they still have ground to cover before the final showdown of the season in Miami next month.

The Lagos race marked a landmark occasion as the E1 World Championship made its African debut, with Nigeria becoming the first country on the continent to host the electric boat racing series.

Often dubbed the “Formula One of the seas,” the E1 Championship combines sustainability, innovation, and speed — featuring fully electric powerboats that race at high velocity without emitting pollution.

The series was co-founded by Formula E and Extreme E pioneer Alejandro Agag and former Formula One engineer Rodi Basso, with a mission to revolutionize marine transport through environmentally responsible competition.

As the season heads into its Miami finale, Team Brazil’s breakthrough win has injected fresh excitement into the title race and reaffirmed E1’s growing global appeal.
