Yul Edochie Explains Why He Doesn’t Share Photos of Children With Estranged Wife

Popular Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has opened up on why he no longer posts pictures of his children with his estranged wife, May Edochie, amid sustained criticism on social media. Yul addressed the issue during an interview with Kel Armstrong Amobi on the KAA Truth podcast, following backlash over his frequent posts about his second wife, Judy Austin, and her children. The actor dismissed claims that he had abandoned his children with May, insisting that he remains in constant contact with them and continues to support them financially. He disclosed that he recently sent money to his second son through his mother’s bank account to ensure proper records. “I’ve heard a lot of things about people saying I abandoned my children. Sometimes I read those things and I laugh. If my children never come to you to complain, it’s funny because I’m in contact with my children,” he said. Yul revealed that his second son recently gained admission into the university and completed his matriculation, noting that they communicated ahead of the ceremony. Although he was unable to attend due to his busy schedule, he congratulated his son and encouraged him. He added that his son later sent him pictures from the matriculation, countering online claims that he was out of touch with his children. “This is the same son they’re saying I’m not in contact with. You can’t set a camera to debunk everything. I chatted with my son yesterday and sent him money today through the mother, so the payment is properly documented,” he explained. Addressing why he avoids posting his children online, Yul clarified that there is an ongoing divorce case and a court order restricting him from sharing anything related to his children on social media for their safety. “No matter what happened, it shouldn’t affect the children. There’s a court order saying that anything that has to do with my children, I shouldn’t post for their own safety,” he said. The actor disclosed that his second son is 17 years old, while the younger child is about eight, stressing that his decision not to post them online should not be mistaken for lack of love. “So it’s not like I don’t love them. They are my blood,” he added.

Peter Obi Can Never Be President, Opposition Is Power – Fayose

Isaac Fayose Accuses Tinubu Administration of Selfishness, Desperation for Power

Popular Nigerian businessman and social media personality Isaac Fayose has criticised the administration of President Bola Tinubu, accusing it of being selfish and overly desperate to retain power ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking in an interview on Saturday, Fayose—who is the brother of former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose—said he was once a supporter of the Tinubu-led government but later withdrew his support after observing what he described as a troubling obsession with power. According to him, the administration has become insensitive to the suffering of ordinary Nigerians, while focusing more on political calculations than on the country’s worsening security challenges. “I used to support this government before, but when I noticed that they are selfish and desperate for a second term, and they don’t care about who is dying, I began to hate the government,” Fayose said. He further accused the ruling party of weakening the opposition through political manoeuvring, pointing to the wave of defections by governors and what he described as deliberate attempts to destabilise the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). “This administration is selfish and desperate for a second term. Look at how many governors have decamped, look at what they are doing to the PDP,” he added. Fayose warned that Nigeria risks sliding into a one-party state, stressing that opposition is essential to democracy. “The beauty of democracy is the opposition. When you kill opposition just for your own gain, that is selfishness,” he said, adding that governance driven by personal ambition cannot truly serve the interests of the people.

Man Charged With Threatening To Kill US Vice President, JD Vance

A federal grand jury has indicted a 33-year-old Ohio man for allegedly threatening to kill United States Vice President JD Vance during the official’s visit to the state in January. The Justice Department announced the charges against Shannon Mathre of Toledo on Friday, February 6. According to the department’s statement, Mathre is accused of “making a threat to take the life of, and to inflict bodily harm upon” the Vice President. The indictment alleges that Mathre stated, “I’m going to find out where he (the vice president) is going to be and use my M14 automatic gun and kill him.” The location where the comment was made was not specified. U.S. Secret Service agents arrested Mathre on Friday. During the investigation into the alleged threat, authorities also reported finding “multiple digital files of child sexual abuse materials” in Mathre’s possession. This is the latest security incident involving Vice President Vance. In early January, a separate individual allegedly attempted to break into Vance’s Ohio home by hammering on windows while the Vice President and his family were away. A 26-year-old man was taken into custody in connection with that event. Mathre made his initial court appearance before a U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Northern District of Ohio on Friday. He remains in custody pending a detention hearing scheduled for February 11.

2027: Rivers Leaders Don’t Need Governor to Mobilize Support for Tinubu – Wike

The Rivers State chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that political leaders in the state do not require the backing of a governor to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu. Wike made the assertion on Saturday during the launch of the organisation’s Port Harcourt office, stressing that grassroots commitment, not gubernatorial influence, drives genuine political support. “We are working for President Tinubu. We don’t need a governor to mobilise us. We have what it takes to operate independently,” Wike said. “We have senators, Assembly members, local government chairmen, National Assembly members, and party chairmen of both APC and PDP.” According to the former Rivers State governor, the group’s mobilisation effort is rooted in personal conviction rather than external direction. “We have mobilised ourselves to demonstrate our commitment because true support doesn’t need to be brought by someone – you have to make the commitment yourself,” he added. Wike noted that the display of unity reflects the resolve of local leaders across Rivers State, who have voluntarily pledged their support for President Tinubu and his administration.

US Vice President J.D. Vance Booed During 2026 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony in Milan

US Vice President J.D. Vance Booed During 2026 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony in Milan

United States Vice President J.D. Vance was met with loud boos and jeers on Friday night after appearing on the jumbotron during the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan. Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, were shown standing and waving American flags inside the San Siro Stadium as Team USA was being introduced to the crowd. According to NBC’s broadcast commentary, the reaction from spectators included audible hissing directed at the Vice President. While cheers followed shortly afterward, commentators noted that the applause appeared to be aimed at the American athletes rather than the political figure, underscoring the clear distinction in audience sentiment. The moment highlighted the political tensions that briefly intruded on the celebratory sporting atmosphere. The incident came days after Vance attended an Olympic ice hockey match in Milan alongside US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and two Olympic gold medal-winning hockey sisters. Both Vance and Rubio are widely viewed as potential contenders for the 2028 Republican presidential nomination, adding further political weight to their presence at the Games. Olympics organisers had reportedly anticipated political reactions during the ceremony. The appearance of Israel’s delegation also drew boos from sections of the crowd, reflecting broader global tensions surrounding the event. Vance’s visit has additionally coincided with rumours circulating in Italy about the alleged presence of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents operating during the Games. Italy’s Interior Minister, Matteo Piantedosi, moved to shut down the speculation, telling the Chamber of Deputies that ICE would not conduct any law enforcement operations on Italian soil. “ICE does not and will never be able to carry out operational police activities on our national territory,” Piantedosi said, clarifying that any ICE personnel present would be restricted to information sharing and analysis in collaboration with Italian authorities. Meanwhile, Team USA has arrived at the Milano Cortina Games with a record-breaking delegation of 232 athletes, marking the largest American contingent ever sent to a Winter Olympics.

Iyabo Obasanjo Declares Intention to Contest Ogun Governorship in 2027

Prof. Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has formally declared her intention to contest the 2027 Ogun State governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). She made the declaration during an interview with Nigerian sports legend Segun Odegbami on 103.7FM Eagle7 Sports, monitored by our correspondent in Abeokuta on Saturday. The former commissioner ruled out any return to the Senate, stating clearly that her political ambition is now focused solely on leading Ogun State. “So moving ahead, I’m not going to be Commissioner. Like I said, I’m not even going back to the same party because I think that’s old and I don’t see the use of it. And I’m not going to go back to the Senate,” she said. Emphasising her resolve, Prof. Obasanjo added that the governorship is the only political office that would bring her back into active politics. “Like the American would say, there’s no need. And this is what I told my associates when this all started. I said, the only thing I’ll come back to do is the governorship. “And we have started that journey. We are going to see it through. And so that’s the journey I’m on. And we are very serious about it. I mean we are very dedicated to it,” she stated. It had earlier reported that Prof. Obasanjo confirmed joining the ruling APC, noting that her decision to return to politics was influenced by sustained pressure from her supporters. “Like I told you, a group of people who I did not bring together have been working, I think, for two years now. And then they started talking to me about a year ago, saying, ‘Look, we think you are the best candidate. We want you back,’” she added. Her declaration is expected to significantly shape the political landscape of Ogun State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
