Woman Claims She Was Raped In Her Apartment, Vows To End Her Life In TikTok Confession

A woman has posted a disturbing video on TikTok claiming she was raped in her apartment on the morning of February 15th and revealing that she has been struggling with suicidal thoughts. In the video, she said she often relies on alcohol to sleep due to insomnia: “I have insomnia. If I’m not drunk, I can’t sleep… On Saturday, I drank, but it wasn’t working. I slept around 6 a.m., and around 9 a.m., I heard knocking on my door… I thought maybe it was one of my neighbors.” She described the terrifying assault in her own words: “The minute I opened the door, I got pushed back. I hit my head on the fridge and passed out. When I opened my eyes, there was a man over me. My clothes were stuffed in my mouth, I was tied, and I was just there, mumbling, hoping somebody could hear me… Most people would have gone to church, so no one could help.” She later received a message from the alleged attacker, claiming he intentionally hurt her: “The person texted me… he said he was trying to simulate it being the first person that I could sleep with. He said, ‘I’m going to post it after this video… I’m so sorry.’” The woman repeatedly expressed her distress and feelings of helplessness: “I’ve had everything, I can’t move with everything… I’ve been suicidal from the start… I can’t keep going… I can’t hold up anymore… I’m so sorry… I can’t hold up anymore.” Since posting the video, she has not shared any further updates. Her confession highlights the emotional toll sexual assault can take on survivors and the urgent need for mental health and support resources.

I’m Being Ridiculed For Not Joining APC, Lagos Assembly Opposition Lawmaker Osafile Stella Says

Osafile Stella, the only opposition member in the Lagos State House of Assembly, has said she has faced criticism for leaving the Labour Party to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) instead of aligning with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Speaking to journalists after Monday’s plenary session, Osafile acknowledged the ongoing taunts but said she has learned to cope with the realities of political life. “Of course, there are taunts, but in politics you must develop a thick skin. Without that, it is difficult to move forward,” she said. On whether her switch to the ADC guarantees her a return ticket in the next election, Osafile stressed that her decisions are guided by the interests of her constituents. She added that the ADC is a well-established party with functional structures in place. “The ADC is well established. The structures are there. My people encouraged me to take this step. It was the constituents I represent who asked me to move to the ADC,” she said. Regarding religion in politics, Osafile emphasized that Nigeria is a secular state, and effective political participation crosses religious boundaries. “Your personality will always reflect in how you play politics. After God’s authority comes government, so you cannot distance yourself from it,” she noted. Osafile, who chairs the House Committee on Wealth Creation and Employment, also dismissed claims that her opposition status has led to discrimination in the Assembly. She praised Speaker Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa for remaining professional and impartial. “When I campaigned, I emphasised capacity, competence and character. I believe the Speaker understands his role and assigns responsibilities appropriately. I have not experienced any form of discrimination,” Stella said. “Beyond party politics, he is committed to governance. He has given me the space to function and has consistently set aside party differences to uphold the Constitution,” she added.

Court Adjourns Case Challenging Deregistration Of ADC, Three Other Parties To February 24, 2026

The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned a suit seeking the deregistration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Action Alliance (AA), Accord Party (AP), Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), and Action Peoples Party (APP) to February 24, 2026. The hearing, originally scheduled for yesterday, was postponed after the presiding judge was absent. The court was abuzz with activity as all parties were present, each represented by legal teams. The National Forum of Former Legislators (NFFL), the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and the ADC each engaged two Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), while the Accord Party was represented by one SAN. Senior counsels also appeared for the other affected parties. The substantive hearing, expected next week, is anticipated to feature detailed legal arguments on the matter. Speaking to journalists, lead counsel for the NFFL, Yakubu Ruba (SAN), explained that the case seeks judicial interpretation of the Constitution. “The suit filed by the NFFL seeks the court’s interpretation of the Constitution and aims to further expound Nigeria’s electoral jurisprudence,” he said. The NFFL, a public interest group, filed the case in December 2025, challenging the recognition of the five political parties on the grounds that they allegedly failed to meet the constitutional threshold for continued existence. The Forum stated that the legal action is intended to enhance Nigeria’s electoral jurisprudence, uphold the rule of law, and foster a more credible and functional political system.

Hollywood Actor Robert Duvall Dies At 95, Star Of Godfather And Apocalypse Now

Legendary actor Robert Duvall, celebrated for his roles as mafia lawyer Tom Hagen in “The Godfather” and the surfing-obsessed Colonel Kilgore in “Apocalypse Now,” has died at the age of 95, his wife Luciana Duvall confirmed on Monday. “Yesterday we said goodbye to my beloved husband, cherished friend, and one of the greatest actors of our time. Bob passed away peacefully at home,” she wrote. Known for his blunt honesty, versatility, and avoidance of Hollywood glitz, Duvall won an Academy Award for Best Actor and earned six additional nominations over a career spanning six decades. He worked as both a lead and supporting actor, later expanding into directing, and continued acting well into his 90s. “To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was simply everything,” Luciana Duvall said. “His passion for his craft was matched only by his deep love for characters, a great meal, and holding court.” Duvall received the Oscar in 1983 for his portrayal of a washed-up country singer in “Tender Mercies.” His most iconic performances also included the calm, loyal consigliere Tom Hagen in the first two “Godfather” films and the flamboyant Lieutenant Colonel William Kilgore in Francis Ford Coppola’s 1979 Vietnam War epic “Apocalypse Now.” Al Pacino, who shared the screen with Duvall in “The Godfather” films, paid tribute, saying, “He was a born actor as they say, his connection with it, his understanding and his phenomenal gift will always be remembered. I will miss him.” As Colonel Kilgore, Duvall delivered one of cinema’s most famous lines: “I love the smell of napalm in the morning,” a moment that helped cement his stardom. Originally intended to be an over-the-top character named Colonel Carnage, Duvall refined the role, demonstrating his meticulous approach. “I did my homework,” he told Larry King in 2015. “I did my research.” Director Francis Ford Coppola, who worked with Duvall on both “Apocalypse Now” and “The Godfather,” described his passing as “a blow,” noting, “Such a great actor and such an essential part of American Zoetrope from its beginning.” Duvall was considered a late bloomer in Hollywood, gaining early attention at 31 with his role as Boo Radley in the 1962 adaptation of Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird.” He went on to play a wide array of characters, including a ruthless executive in “Network” (1976), a strict Marine father in “The Great Santini” (1979), and his acclaimed role in “Tender Mercies.” He often cited his favorite part as Augustus McCrae in the 1989 TV mini-series “Lonesome Dove,” based on Larry McMurtry’s novel. Tributes poured in from colleagues, including British actress Jane Seymour, who recalled shared moments off-screen, and Alec Baldwin, who described Duvall’s performance as Boo Radley as utterly compelling. Film critic Elaine Mancini hailed him as “the most technically proficient, the most versatile, and the most convincing actor on the screen in the United States.”

UK To End Physical Visa Stickers For Nigerians, Introduces Mandatory eVisa From February 25, 2026

The United Kingdom has confirmed that starting February 25, 2026, Nigerian travellers will no longer receive physical visa stickers in their passports, as the country moves fully to an electronic visa system. The announcement was made in Abuja by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI), which stated that all newly approved Visit visas for Nigerians will now be issued as digital eVisas under the UK’s broader transition to a modernised, paperless border process. Under the updated system, successful applicants will not get visa vignettes placed inside their passports. Instead, their immigration status will be stored online and accessible through a secure UKVI account. Authorities stressed that the visa application steps remain unchanged. Applicants must still complete the online form, visit a Visa Application Centre to submit biometric data, and meet all existing requirements. The only difference is how the visa is delivered and verified after approval. UKVI also clarified that Nigerians who already possess valid physical visa stickers will continue to use them until they expire. There is no requirement to switch to an eVisa before the end of their current validity period. British Deputy High Commissioner in Abuja, Gill Lever, said the transition is designed to make travel smoother while enhancing border security. “We are committed to making it easier for Nigerians to travel to the UK. This shift to digital visas streamlines a key part of the process, strengthens security and reduces reliance on paper documentation,” she said. According to UKVI, the digital system is expected to reduce delays since passports will no longer need to be retained for visa endorsements. Travellers will also be able to check and share their immigration status online at any time. Officials noted that unlike physical stickers, eVisas cannot be lost, stolen or tampered with, and they allow real-time verification of a traveller’s status. The move forms part of a wider overhaul of the UK’s border management system, marking a significant procedural change for Nigerian visitors, students and business travellers who will now rely entirely on a secure digital immigration record for entry clearance.

Senator, Kenneth Eze Calls For 16-Year Single Presidential Tenure To Boost Policy Continuity

Kenneth Eze has suggested a major overhaul of Nigeria’s presidential tenure system, proposing a single 16-year term in place of the current arrangement of two four-year terms. The senator, who represents Ebonyi Central under the APC and serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Information and National Orientation, made the remarks while addressing journalists at his country home in Ohigbo-Amagu, located in Ezza South Local Government Area. Eze expressed concern that the existing four-year tenure structure disrupts governance and long-term development. He argued that frequent election cycles distract leaders from fully implementing policies and completing projects. “Every four years, we return to campaign mode. By the third year, governance slows as attention shifts to re-election; that is why projects are abandoned, and policies are not allowed to mature. “Nigeria’s constitution provides for a four-year presidential term, renewable once, but if you ask me, I will advocate one tenure of 16 years. It sounds controversial, but it will allow policies to run their full course and stabilise the system,” Eze said. He clarified that his proposal should not be interpreted as an attack on democratic values but rather as an invitation to rethink governance structures in the country. According to the lawmaker, any move toward extending presidential tenure would require an inclusive national dialogue and constitutional amendments to ensure that democratic principles, checks and balances, and accountability mechanisms remain intact.

Sophia Momodu’s Lawyers Vow Legal Action Over Alleged Intimidation In Davido Custody Dispute

The legal team representing Sophia Momodu has declared that it will deploy every lawful avenue to counter what it described as attempts to intimidate counsel or disrupt ongoing court proceedings, amid fresh controversy linked to Afrobeats star Davido. In a statement issued by the management and board of partners at PUNUKA Attorneys and Solicitors, the firm stressed that the custody matter is currently before a competent court in Lagos State and must be resolved strictly through evidence and due judicial process. It maintained that public commentary or online pressure would not sway its professional responsibilities. The reaction followed reports that Davido posted a photograph of one of the lawyers on social media while speaking about developments in his custody dispute with Momodu, triggering intense online reactions. The firm warned that such actions could place legal practitioners at risk of harassment beyond the courtroom. The lawyers underscored that justice thrives on fearless and independent advocacy, cautioning that any effort to undermine the integrity of legal proceedings would attract consequences within the bounds of the law. They further urged the wider legal community, including the Nigerian Bar Association, to condemn conduct capable of eroding professional standards. The latest exchange adds to the long-running custody battle between both parties, a dispute that observers say has increasingly shifted into the public space as both legal and personal tensions continue to escalate.

EFCC Detains El-Rufai Overnight Over Alleged N423bn Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has detained former Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufai, following fresh questioning over alleged financial misconduct linked to his administration. Sources revealed that el-Rufai, a key figure in the African Democratic Congress, appeared at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Monday after receiving an invitation from the anti-graft agency. After hours of interrogation, officials decided to keep him in custody overnight as investigations continue. “He is in our custody, and he is going to spend the night there.” Insiders said a decision on his release would depend on the outcome of further questioning expected to continue on Tuesday. El-Rufai served as governor of Kaduna State from 2015 to 2023. In 2024, the Kaduna State House of Assembly indicted him over allegations of diverting N423 billion in public funds and involvement in money laundering. The lawmakers called on relevant anti-corruption agencies to probe the claims. Beyond the EFCC investigation, the former governor has also been invited by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission and is expected to face interrogation on Wednesday. Last Thursday, security operatives attempted to apprehend him at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja when he returned from Cairo, Egypt. He later alleged that the ICPC acted on the directive of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, instructing Department of State Services officials to arrest him upon arrival. Speaking during an interview on Prime Time on Arise Television, el-Rufai said “someone wiretapped” Ribadu’s phone, which allowed him to hear the directive ordering his arrest. On Monday, the DSS filed a three-count charge against him for allegedly intercepting the NSA’s telephone conversation. He is expected to be arraigned in court over the matter.
